My LMP was 24/12/24.

I went for a viability scan today and was told they could not 100% confirm there was a gestational sac. If there was something, it measured 5mm only. I've had intermittent cramping but no bleeding

She could not see anything and wrote on a report for Early Pregnancy Unit- ? Gestational sac.

My positive pregnancy test was 21/1/25.

I don't feel very confident right now and I'm preparing myself for the worse.

Currently sat on the Gynae assessment unit by myself. I sent my OH home. It's going to be a long night.

Was it a private scan? And was it transvaginal?

Sorry you are going through this uncertainty. Is it a case of waiting until you can see the EPU on Monday? Or do the Gynae assessment unit offer a scan to check? I don’t know much about Gynae only the EPU.

Hi,

Yes it was a private scan and vaginal.

I'm sat here with cramping and my shoulder hurts but I'm unsure whether that's due to my position or not. I usually suffer with pain to my shoulder on certain movements but I'm sat at rest not moving it.

It's going to be a long night.

Ah are you there to check to make sure it’s not ectopic? Or to measure hcg? Or do gynae cover epu work at weekends in your area? My local epu just closes on weekends. Hope you don’t have to wait all night.

Sorry to hear this OP. If they can't see an ectopic then unfortunately they are unlikely to be able to confirm anything for you tonight. They'll likely do HCG bloods and then check for an increase in 2/3 days time. If HCG increasing then they'll likely rescan in 2 weeks time.

Have they told out PUL/ectopic?

Were you physically tracking ovulation or are your dates just from LMP?

ChickenKievv · 09/02/2025 12:37

They did an internal examination and prodded my tummy. I've been sent home with a scan date for Wednesday.

They didn't do any bloods at all and said they wouldn't unless they couldn't find anything on NHS scan on Wednesday as they don't go off private scans.

If my symptoms continue I'm to go back in.

What's the point?

My LMP was 24/12/24.
I ovulated on 9/1/25.
My first positive pregnancy test was 18/1/25.

And there was no definite confirmation of a gestational sac. Just potentially and looked like if it was, there was some whiteness around it.
