Mold in bathroom

Just found out that the flat we have been living in has mold behind the tiling especially in the bathroom. Extremely worried as I’m in my first trimester of pregnancy. Anyone been exposed to mold and know of the potential impacts on baby health?

Thanks! 🙏🏼

You should be fine, if it is behind tiles. Presumably you have no breathing problems?

I moved into a very mouldy house in my first trimester.

I remember scrubbing walls with bleach and a respirator. At one point I even attached a scrubbing sponge to a rotary sander to try to get it through it quicker as there a lot of walls to cover! 😂

Not recommending you to do that but we are all alive and well so far touchwood.

It’s a good idea to talk to your doctor about it, just to be safe. In the meantime, try to improve ventilation and avoid spending too much time in the affected area.

Mold behind tiles can be worrying, especially during pregnancy. Short-term exposure is usually low risk, but long-term or heavy exposure could affect your respiratory health or trigger allergies. The safest thing is to avoid the area, get the mold removed professionally, and let your doctor know so they can give specific advice for your pregnancy.
