Could someone help me understand my first fundal height measurement?

Hi everyone,
I’ve had my 28 week appointment today and the midwife measured my bump. She said I measured 24 and I needed a growth scan because I am under where I need to be.
I just wanted to ask that because I am 28 weeks does that mean I should be about 28cm? So next week I should be about 29cm because I’ll be 29 weeks etc. is that how it works? Thanks

Yes that’s how it works

It’s not an exact science so try not to worry. I was the opposite and measured weeks ahead. I had growth scans and they induced me at 37 weeks because they believed she was already nearing 11lbs. She was actually just a little over 7lbs!

Yeah thank you I’m trying not to worry! I’m really petite so I’m wondering if maybe that has an impact too. Baby is moving around lots and heartbeat and everything is fine so hopefully the scan will be fine.
I always think that everyone’s bodies are different too!

I measured 2 weeks ahead when they first measured my fundal height, and at every appointment since I am still 2 weeks ahead. Opposite to you though because I am tall.

You might find you measure behind each time because you are petite.

The rough rule of thumb used to be number of weeks in cm. When I had my daughter I had a personalised chart based on my height and booking appointment BMI. I'm 5ft2 and slim build and never was near number of weeks in cm but was just in the "normal" range.i can't remember measurements but I was always on the 10th percentile on my chart and to get the growth scans I would have to be under the 10th percentile. She was born at 38 weeks and 6lb13 which would have been 60th percentile on the same chart.
