wanda · 30/01/2005 17:56

I love the name Lowri (Welsh). Dh flatly refused to consider Ruby for Dd but I think it's fab.

orangina · 31/01/2005 20:58

Girls: Tierney, Kya, Ynais (Inay), Paris & Kirsten.
Boys: Reegan, Aston (may have said that one already!), Byron & Harris.

Hi All.

Due in April, our names are rather conservative - Charlotte or Benjamin depending..

But - friends' names or names they plan to call their children -
Boy - Arlo, Macgregor (known as Mack), Asher Jack.
Girlies - Wynter, Aslan, Sienna, Cassia, Aisha, Odette, Rousharne, Bridie, Mietta.

Am racking my brains...Will add if I can think of any more.

nightowl · 02/02/2005 03:18

have a look through the meanings? thats why i chose dd's name mainly.

Cristina7 · 02/02/2005 04:50

Sievehead - Zinc? What's wrong with Iron, Copper, Magnesium? Lovely, lovely names.

ElizabethB - from the list of your friends' unusual names I quite like Odette. Wasn't it the name of the good princess from Swan Lake (and Odille was the bad one)? Are they seriously thinking of such names or just fooling about?

pinkwhistle · 02/02/2005 06:07

For a girl:
Aletha
Foave
Calico
Alaska
Serafin
Merrin

For a boy:
Kai (pron. Kye)
Adney
Dex
Kayden
Radley
Selby
Garnet

ElizabethB · 02/02/2005 09:38

Hi - didn't know Odette featured in Swan Lake... I wonder if her parents knew... Her name is definitely Odette... I thought Rousharne was the weirdest one - her mum made it up out of the song "Little Ray of Sunshine"... he he.

blueteddy · 02/02/2005 16:16

There is a new boy who has joined our school called Reid.
He is Australian.

CountessDracula · 02/02/2005 16:17

Surely Aslan is a boy lion, not a girly human!

bonym · 02/02/2005 17:52

Buy this month's Pregnancy and Birth - it has a free book with it "Cool Names for Babies" (or something like that) - and there are loads of unusual names - hasn't helped us though, dh and I still can't agree on a name !

ElizabethB · 02/02/2005 21:11

Well as I say - we are having conservative names - but honestly these are names of real people. And yes - Aslan is a girl. She has a brother called Saffron. I didn't include Saffron as I saw it had been mentioned below... Nevertheless,I quite like Aslan for a girl.

pinkwhistle · 03/02/2005 02:15

Aslan is the lion in the CS Lewis books about Narnia...it does seem quite liony. And I must admit I think of Saffron as a girl's name...probably because of Saffy on the TV!

I have found some more if anyone is still interested...I was thinking about tjgx's girls' names, Blaize and Amber...think she was after unusual names as in uncommon, not unusual as in strange!

Anyway here's my 2p's worth. Brace yourself.

GIRLS
Acara
Allira
Caris
Samira
Taree
Kassia
Shenae
Trinity

Cristina7 · 03/02/2005 13:43

All right, then, unusual as in not commonly used now, rather than a bit wacky.

Tjgx - shall we go on with suggestions?

oatcake · 03/02/2005 13:50
