Hi, I'm 40+3 with my second, but was induced with my first due to pre eclampsia and tbh, the whole experience was so horrible I don't remember much!

Anyways, I just went to the toilet and had a pee as usual, then came downstairs with ds, when I realised my knickers were wet. I went back up to check them and there was a lot of wetness but with a thin green gunk mixed in. I thought a show was quite thick??

I've changed my pants and put a pad on.
any ideas?

Sounds like things might be starting to happen.

Good luck!

oliviaelanasmum · 08/05/2008 08:29

That sounds like a show

belgo · 08/05/2008 08:30

A show is usually muscosy, a bit like jelly. it can be grey, white, pinkish, brownish - but not sure if it should be green.

I wonder if your waters are breaking? The water is supposed to be pale yellow. If it's green then that means you should get yourself checked out by your midwife/obstiatrician.

Phone your labour ward and discuss it with them

windygalestoday · 08/05/2008 08:31

i think id ring the labour ward to be sure, good luck!!!!

are u sure its not slow leaking water? just check with your hospital if they want to check you as could be that, and you dont want murky waters. i had a similar scenario 2 weeks before dd1 was born and they checked me and it wasn't waters. could have been though.

I suppose the green stuff could have been described as jelly-ish but was in a liquid too.

mmm, get it checked out. a show is thick. liquid can only be wee or water!

belgo · 08/05/2008 08:35

definitely phone your labour ward

belgo · 08/05/2008 12:52

How are you pinkmist?

jenpet · 08/05/2008 12:55

A friend of mine had something similar in bed when she woke up, turned out it was her waters, but the baby had passed it's meconium (sp?)which was mixed up with the fluid and looked greenish. Could be that? If so, you're on your way!

Pinkmist · 08/05/2008 14:31

hey, phoned labour ward and they suggested i went in, but typically they couldn't see my waters had gone. mw said that the history i described did sound as if they had gone but they can only treat you on what they see, and it was possible that until my cervix opened more or baby moved its head i wouldn't leak anymore. she did manage to get a sample of green stuff though and has sent it off to be tested.

I was put on a trace for about 45 mins and in that time I had 4 irregular contractions but they just feel like mild period pains at the minute, so they said i could go home and just head back if any more leaks. But she did say it looked if labour was starting. Fingers crossed!!

Just wanted to thank you all for your advice, as left to my own devices I would have stayed home, and it could have been serious .
