Feel like I'm going backwards with the pregnancy

I feel awfully sick again, I was sick at 1am this morning, was sick again around 5am and I just feel so nauseous and don't really want to eat or drink.

I did start to feel better, but then I got hit with flu so not sure if the flu sort of took away my pregnancy symptoms at the time and they were always there, but I just feel sick again! I am 17 weeks pregnant and thought this would all be over by now! :( I am still patiently waiting for this 2nd trimester glow and energy you are supposed to have but nothing!
Anyone else having a tough second trimester?

Sorry to tell you this but I was sick for my whole pregnancy. I hope that doesn't happen to you but just so you know it is a normal thing 😬

Motherof1and2dogs · 05/02/2025 19:21

@Devilsmommy as long as I know it's 100% normal then I can learn to cope with it just by knowing it isn't anything serious or something that can harm the baby, even if it is through the whole pregnancy! 😩 it isn't everyday, but most days, just seems one minute I'm amazing and the next day it hits me out of nowhere! Please tell me the sickness stops once baby is out though!? 😆

@Motherof1and2dogs 🤣 yes as soon as baby is out sickness disappears. Same with heartburn if you're unlucky enough to get that too😂

The second trimester 'glow' passed me by in both pregnancies.

Although it was better than the first trimester, I still had occasional sickness till 18-20 weeks with my first.

Second pregnancy, I'm still being sick about once a week now and I'm 33 weeks!

JuneySunshine · 05/02/2025 20:36

I'm only 13 weeks now, but last pregnancy I remember I was feeling slightly better at 12/13 weeks but sickness came back worse than ever around 15 weeks.
I remember feeling very cheated because everyone was saying the worst bit was over. Looking out for it this time round 🙄

@Devilsmommy my first pregnancy was so good compared to this one, I didn't experience any sickness, and after the tiredness of the first trimester it was like I was never pregnant! This time round has been awful! I'm wondering if it's because I am older and our bodies struggle more. I'm only 31 but what a difference I already feel from being 28 with my first!
Luckily no heartburn yet but I think that can come at anytime! I've never had heartburn before so I have no idea what to expect either but heard it's horrible! :(

@sel2223 I just said to PP that I am sure it is something to do with age! It seems women have worst pregnancies the older they are, I think our bodies must just struggle more the older we get. My first pregnancy was almost non existent, by this time round has felt like death almost every day! You're getting close though! Only a few more weeks to go ☺️ I am only 17 weeks 😩 help!

I was sick all the way through.

Definitely stopped after birth though!

It may well be an age thing but you should be fine at 31 - I think having other kids to look after can make it harder and also lots of women seem to struggle more with each pregnancy for some reason.

I had my first at 37 and now 42 with second. This pregnancy has been easier in some ways but the sickness and tiredness has been a lot worse this time (just found out I have anemia).

The heartburn both times has been absolutely horrific. That's probably my worst symptom to be honest.

Good luck with your pregnancy
