Waking up gasping for air

Curious to know if anybody has ever experancied this, I'm 15 weeks pregnant and this has happened twice now.

I suddenly wake up from my sleep unable to breath and fighting for breath, I don't feel panicked like I've been having a panic attack in my sleep it's breathing related. I feel like I'm being smothered and it's awful, I'm not having distressing dreams either, I dreamt we'd gotten a puppy and I was playing with it then all of a sudden in my dream I couldn't breath then woke up fighting for air.

This has never happened before in previous pregnancies or when not pregnant, such a random thing just wondering if it's happened to anybody else?

I've not had it in pregnancy but I've had it as a medication side effect. It was awful! For me it linked with dehydration as the medication I was on so drinking a pint of water helped.
Having some olbas on my pillow or one of those menthol sticks for when you have a cold next to the bed help as I knew I was breathing when I could smell it. For me the danger time was about an hour after I went to sleep

Low iron is also associated with breathlessness (and very common in pregnancy). Talk to your GP or midwife?

Do you sleep on your back? Because that can make you breathless when you're pregnant. Maybe try lying on your side with a pillow behind your back so you can't roll over
