Why was I in so much pain!? (37 weeks)

Hey guys,

I am 38 weeks today and yesterday I was suddenly in loads of pain. It was mostly in my lower back but spreading around the front below my bump. It was a constant pain which got worse in waves. I've given birth before and it was the same pain.

I went into the maternity triage where they saw that baby was fine, and my cervix was not labouring (I was gutted). I needed codeine to knock the pain out and I could barely walk. I had the pain (to various degrees depending on pain relief) for 8 hours non-stop.

Since then the pain has gone, baby is still moving as she usually would and I'm just as pregnant as I was before. The midwives were amazing. However I suffer hugely with anxiety and have also lost a baby in the third trimester due to a malformation of his brain so I struggle to believe my baby is safe and healthy.

I just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced something similar. Like a non-stop sharp pain circling aroubd your waist? The current assumption is the baby was on a nerve. My mind goes to "what if they missed something?". One midwife said we may never know why you were in so much pain

Any reassurence or someone willing to share similar experiences much appeciated
