I had a cough around November time which isn’t as bad now but I still occasionally cough. I’ve noticed in the recent weeks, when I cough in the evening, I’ve started to dry-heave and last night was actually sick as a result. Evenings have always been my worst time for nausea (since week 6) and I’m getting a bit disheartened that I am approaching 16 weeks tomorrow and this is still ongoing. I’ve also been starting to get heartburn in the last 2 weeks which I think could be making me cough more in the evenings? Has anyone else had a similar experience and can share some recommendations? Evenings are so miserable for me. I’ve been having two buttered cream crackers and half a glass of milk before bed but now I’m wondering if I should completely stop eating altogether on a night after physically being sick from retching last night. I’m due to see the midwife this week so maybe I should mention this? Not sure if I should be treating the heartburn in the first instance.

I'm in week 35 and unfortunately I'm still in the same position as you are now, it is actually getting worse as baby gets bigger. GP says its acid reflux, and this is what will be causing the coughing and vomiting. The only advice I can give is take as much gaviscon as you can to keep things at bay.

Oh gosh, I’m not sure how I will cope with another 6 months of this! I will take your advice with that. I’ve got some Rennie’s today so was thinking of starting to take one early evening to see if that helps.

I'm only 12 weeks but finding milk making my cough/ gagging/ potential for being sick much worse. I seem to be worse in the morning and so cereal is a no no!

It’s awful isn’t it. It terrifies me that I might have another 6 months of this… certainly the last few weeks when there’s no space left for my stomach due to the baby’s size! Have you tried a milk alternative to have with cereal?

I totally sympathise, I'm exactly the same. I'm at 12 weeks and it's getting worse!
I find it helps eating before bed as the dry heaving and nausea is much worse on an empty stomach. Only thing making me feel better is knowing baby is happily growing in there!
