Anything I can have to help this awful cough and cold?! I asked about Lemsip the other day which is my usual go to but was told absolutely not due to the ingredients. I have already been drinking honey and lemon, but anything else I can have to soothe a cough and sore throat?
I have caught it from my husband and he has awful fever for 48 hours so I am expecting the same to happen to me, I can already feel the aching coming, is paracetamol all we can really take? 😩

Sorry you're not well op, it's so rubbish isn't it. Try boiling some water and dissolve 1tsp salt in it, let it cool down so it's just warm and gargle with it. Dont swallow it though. This always helps a sore throat for me and I do it a couple of times a day. Also, just eat some spoonfuls of Manuka honey. Keep resting and stay hydrated. If you're worried about a fever, contact your midwife or gp. Sorry there's not much else, but I hope these help. Hope you feel better soon!

@GiftWrappedSuburbanDreams I have only just got over the first trimester which was awful, and now I have the flu, it has definitely got worse since I first posted as well. I have been ill non stop for weeks. Thank you for the advice, I never even thought of salt water! Thank you.

What about throat sweets? Often there are things you can take but they can't guarantee it's safe as it's unethical to conduct drug trials on pregnant women! If you speak to a pharmacist they should be able to advise you. You should definitely avoid things with a decongestant action.

Hope you get better soon, it's so rubbish being ill and pregnant 😭

@catsnore literally just spoke to a pharmacy, was expecting a miracle with some other alternatives but it really is just paracetamol and water for now, basically have to wait it out unless it gets worse then it's to the GP. It really is awful being ill and pregnant and to top it off I have a 2 year old that also has the same as me :(
