wondering if anyone can give me some advice what to do or there past experience..
I’m now 20 weeks, I’ve been experiencing episodes where I feel like my heart is racing, palpitations (had in past pregnancy also) going really hot and feeling faint.
i work as a nurse on an acute medical ward and when working last week I had an episode of palpitations and heart rate went to 145, I was sent to emergency department where I’ve now been started on bisoprolol, awaiting a 72 hour ecg, emergency cardiology referral, my ferritin was low so now on iron tablets and also low b12 so having 6 injections of b12. My GP has given me a 2 week sick note, however still no appointment to see cardiology and my ecg isn’t getting put on till end of Febuary.
ive been taking it very steady as soon as I feel like I do to much even walking up the stairs etc my heart races and feel so breathless and go dizzy again! I see my pregnancy consultant next week so going to see what she advises. But my worry is would you get another sick note from GP until all test have been done and seen cardiology etc or would you just risk going back to work and hoping you’ll be ok? I’m planning on using all my annual leave and going off start of April anyway as I know I’ve struggled towards end of pregnancy before.. but I don’t want to look like I’m taking the piss in the mean time being off sick which could end up long term sick and being off till after baby is born.. what would you do.. please help!

sorry for the long post

Hiya, I had terrible times with my pregnancies and got signed off for months every time as I was so poorly and ended up being put on bed rest right up until 4 weeks before due date when I took leave. My pay was full pay for 6 months, so pay wasn’t affected. Look in to your options, and don’t feel bad if you have to go off as per the doctors, now is a time to really look after yourself and little one xx
