Long haul flight first tri - terrified of another miscarriage

So I just found out I’m pregnant after last have a miscarriage a year ago.

I found out I was pregnant on holiday in the Caribbean last year and flew back night flight 12 hours with a toddler (so didn’t get a wink of sleep as he was asleep on my knee) I was around 6/7 weeks. We booked private scan and basically no heart beat.

I convinced myself it was from lack of sleep and long haul flights.

we have been trying for a baby but were not having much look so a few months ago booked a long haul to Dubai…to take our mind off trying to get pregnant.

2 weeks to go till our long haul trip and I’ve just found out I’m pregnant. I am terrified. I have asked my husband if we can postpone and he says I’m being hysterical 🥲

is this normal fear or do I have a right to be worried?

The flight did not cause your last miscarriage and neither will this one.

you need to speak to someone about this anxiety as whilst understandable it is also not true/unreasonable.

i flew throughout pregnancy and did not miss-carry. Correlation and causation are not the same thing

Why risk it if you're that worried - the stress will do you no good. Just cancel and go somewhere in the uk, save Dubai for another time. Don't overthink it.

I avoided flights - I was high risk after lots of previous complications and I just knew the stress would outweigh any benefit of the holiday. That's just what was right for me.

Thanks we will loose of 12k of money if cancel so close to going or I would have. It’s my partners money too as he paid for it…I have a call with GP and my partner says if they says it’s fine then it’s fine.

Totally understandable that you're anxious after your previous loss, but it absolutely wasn't caused by either flying or tiredness. By all means don't travel if you will feel too stressed to enjoy your trip, but don't cancel your trip because you think it might cause a miscarriage - it won't.

Long haul flights can't cause a miscarriage. The risk around flying long haul in pregnancy is to do with developing a blood clot, but you can take steps to mitigate that risk. Lack of sleep also can't cause a miscarriage. Women are so quick to blame themselves, but you did not cause it. Keep reminding yourself of that!
Where are you based? I only ask as if it's UK flight time averages around 7ish hours which isn't that long at all.

I totally get your fear, I cancelled my holiday a few years ago through fear of flying causing a miscarriage. I didn’t go on the holiday and I miss- miscarried anyway. I would try and go on the holiday and enjoy yourself, the flight wouldn’t cause a miscarriage
