40 Weeks - Failed Sweep Closed Cervix

I am 40 weeks, my due date today - went for a sweep and midwife told me they could not complete the sweep as womb was closed and not favourable for labour. I felt so disheartened by this as wasn’t expecting that result. I have another sweep booked in for this Friday and an induction at 41weeks but debating whether to cancel and hold off on another week as really don’t want one but will if it’s best for baby.

Just wondering about other people’s experiences - did you go into spontaneous labour even after a failed sweep?

I’ve been lucky to have a healthy pregnancy throughout and really want to avoid being induced and a C section - just feel stupid thinking it would happen naturally.

Hello OP

I haven't had a sweep but I ignored allllll the date drama. Mentally made my due date 42 weeks. I did something cute for myself each day from 40 weeks. Not a single braxton hick or sign in sight. One of my cute things was a pregnancy massage and I had my baby at 40+5.

See what you can click into mentally. I kept telling myself either way I was going to meet my beautiful baby within 2 weeks.

Might not be for you. But shake off the stress if you can. Your body won't want to be vulnerable and give birth if you are stressed.

Sorry if this is annoying! Good luck xxxx
