Hi, I know this is the pregnancy topic, but I have posted here hoping I would get more responses of experiences from ladies who are now pregnant.

We have dc already, no issues. Started ttc again in September 2022, I fell pregnant quickly but ended in a mmc. Then fell preg some months later but again it ended in a mmc in August 2023.

Since then, not a thing, so it's now been 18 months since that and i'm going onto cycle number 20. We have tried everything and I have had all the tests, which have came back good and I definitely ovulate each month but nothing is happening.

So yes, long story shortened... I am looking for much needed positivity, would love to hear from anyone who tried for a long time then had success and anything you did different when you were successful. Thank you so much x

I haven't personally experienced this but my friend fell pregnant in June 2022. She had no idea and went on her Hen Do and participated in a lot of drinking/wild activities etc.. she had a MC at 8 weeks or just before. Struggled to get pregnant again until August 2023 which was ectopic. She was pregnant again in October 2023 but also ended in a MC. Her husband completely cut out alcohol and caffeine, started sleeping earlier/better and started taking supplements. She fell pregnant in January 2024 and gave birth to her healthy baby girl in October 2024.

I found agnus castus worked for my, I had the same, then nothing for 13 months, used AC, I was so also a little overweight, so lost 8 KG And fell pregnant quickly. Has another miscarriage, continued with the above and fell pregnant straight away - good luck
Oh if you're a bit underweight then that can also be something that may have an impact on TTC - small changes in weight either way can be helpful

Nellyelephanty · 27/01/2025 19:12

Coq10 supplement

CandyCane457 · 27/01/2025 20:47

We were just under a year, if it helps.
Im 35 and a touch on the overweight side, for context.

We had a chat Boxing Day 2024 and I came off the pill following that. Found out on 20th Dec I was pregnant!

mumof1or2 · 27/01/2025 23:22

It took me three years with my youngest and I was 44 when I had him. We'd completely given up and then along he came! I highly recommend reading "it starts with the egg" and take all the supplements it suggests. I did this and I know lots of other success stories of people who have as well. Good luck and don't give up!

Thank you all so much for the replies 🙂

@CatsWhiskerz interesting, I have been thinking about Vitex lately
.. I took it the last 2 times I fell pregnant, both were losses, so I was nervous to take it again in case it could have contributed to things.
Were you still taking it when you fell pregnant this time? And did you stop when you got your bfp or continue it for first tri? x

@Nellyelephanty Thank you, I had been taking this but stopped this month as I was worried I was taking too many supplements. I will add it back in x

Took us 4 years and 9 miscarriages but I am 46 and we started TTC when I have just turned 43. I already have two young children so this took us completely by surprise, we have been extremely naive. I never miscarried before but the scarce existing data show that up to 90% of pregnancies end in miscarriage after 45 so my experience is unfortunately completely normal.

I did read It Starts With the Egg and at some point took tons of supplements and I don’t think the plans suggested there are healthy to continue beyond three-four months as some doses of vitamins she suggests are close to toxic levels. What ultimately helped me was a long term plan to overhaul my diet completely and become the healthiest version of myself, I believe that I fooled my body into thinking that I am younger than I am :-) My BMI was never above 23 but I have also lost some weight.

I am 33 weeks pregnant now and it’s the most boring and the easiest pregnancy so far and I am classed low risk despite turning 47 next month.

I’ve also taken every fertility test under the sun, including testing for blood clots disorders and so on. I’m healthy AF, no issues at all, same with DH. You might want to consider some of these tests, secondary infertility is not uncommon and there might be some underlying factors - some of them are very easy to fix so it’s worth finding out.

I wouldn’t count myself as a success story before the baby is out but I have already made it quite far and my homebirth midwives seem extremely relaxed about delivering a DC of such a geriatric mother, so I’m sharing my experience so far.

Ttc for almost a year without any success, read about conception lube helping, first month of using fell pregnant….

Firestonlee · 28/01/2025 19:24

I used a fertility cup, not sexy but I think it helped x

CatsWhiskerz · 30/01/2025 17:42

I took agnus castus / Vitex til I got the BFP then stopped. I had a few miscarriages sometimes I was taking it and others not, I fell pregnant with my
First child taking it, and second was a brief planned pause where we weren't TTC as such, but I'd just started a new job and I was distracted by that, also hitting the gym a lot and that distraction and weight loss I think helped - the distraction is a big thing but so hard to achieve when you're really wanting a baby x

Ladyinpink1 · 02/02/2025 16:09

@CortieTat Thank you very much for typing all of that out, it was a lovely experience to read and I am really pleased for you, congratulations, it sounds like everything is going well for you now.

I have had all of the tests, all normal, just waiting on a HSG test to check for blockages, and then I believe that's me had everything. Yes I did it starts with an egg supplements also, it was alot and I read recently about too many supplements can do the opposite to sperm and general fertility .. i think it was called oxidative stress?

We have started with eating good from January, having almost all homemade and more protein, vegetables, oats, quinoa etc so I am really encouraged that a healthier diet is what worked for you. Do you mind me asking how long you had made these changes before you had your bfp? x

We took over a year with one chemical. I had all the tests it wasn't me but dhs sperm count was way down. Wed conceived dc1 with no issues so we were quite surprised. He took 3 months of preconception supplements and his results came back to normal and I got my bfp and I'm now 19 weeks.

PiastriThePastry · 02/02/2025 16:15

Aw it’s so bloody rough when you’re ttc and it’s just not working out like you thought it would, or hoped it would I suppose. I found it so hard not to let it take over every single thought in my head!
I’m currently watching Bluey with my three year old who took 1.5 years to conceive, with my baby merrily kicking my ribs (I’m 34 weeks) who took 2.5 years to conceive! We started trying really soon after having my son because of how long it took the first time! Both times I went super low carb a couple of months before it finally happened, and lost weight by association! Fingers crossed it happens for you soon!

Namesy · 02/02/2025 16:22

Depends on if this is due to female or male fertility issues and if these are due to health conditions or age (as fertility decreases).

I get pregnant very easily (it’s always been like that) so I got pregnant immediately, first month of TTC after stopping contraception. None of them stuck before this one though, I would miscarry anytime between week 7 and 11.

It’s easier to get pregnant for some time after a miscarriage so I had a string of pregnancies each time and then a longer break.

So I haven’t noticed any direct changes between healthier lifestyle and getting pregnant easier/faster in my individual case. But after a couple of months already my period became like a clockwork, I always ovulated (tracking BBT) and I started feeling better and more energetic. The lifestyle changes are here to stay, that’s for sure.

Fingers crossed for you!

I had something similar-ish.
I had a MMC September 2015 and we were trying for almost a year to no avail. We gave up and thought (it’s not our time yet). I then found out I was pregnant September 2016 and went on to have my DD in June 2017.
It was like as soon as my body relaxed from the stress of trying, I caught. x

Yep me..battled long term infertility. I'm currently 36weeks with my first ever pregnancy and baby. I've never had a miscarriage or been pregnant ever before despite trying for 4 years. It just never happened. While we were desperate, I didn't want to do ivf etc as I don't think I could deal with the mental side of that. We said we'd just track ovulation and have sex everyday of my fertile window and if it happened it did and if it didn't then it's not meant for us (ouch! We were just brushing it off and trying to be easy on ourselves we were desperate!! A few of my friends had one night stand babies in that time frame and it killed me!)

I don't know why I just couldn't fall pregnant , if it was me or DH but it happened. My first ever pregnancy and now I have a gorgeous baby boy kicking round in my stomach whose due to to be born by elective section in a few weeks🤞🏽✨

Sending love and baby dust to all that are struggling🤍

anonny55 · 02/02/2025 21:02

Oh sorry I should've mentioned, we didn't really do anything Specific to help conceive but i did start taking folic acid about a year prior as I had seen it may help, unsure if it actually did obviously. We both also lost a few stone too (wasn't massively over weight before either though so again unsure if that helped)

JungleRun21 · 02/02/2025 21:34

We tried for 3 years to fall pregnant. Never had a pregnancy during that time that ended in MC either.
GP sent both of us for tests and didnt really get any firm results so she sent a referral to the fertility clinic.

On the day we had our first fertility appointment, I found out I was expecting.
It took me completely by surprise but was very welcomed.

The only things we had done differently in the 3 months leading up to that was change supplements to the Pregnacare conception and the mens Wellman conception. I was also using the Clear Blue ovulation sticks and i really believe that combo worked for us.

Moonriseeeee · 27/05/2025 18:07

Just wanted to share some hope after 2 years of trying naturally. I finally got my BFP and maybe this helps someone.

My only diagnosis was a small 3mm endometrioma on the left ovary (found only on MRI, no symptoms – possibly silent endo). One cycle before the BFP, I did an HSG – my tubes were open, but they saw some thickening on the left, maybe mild hydrosalpinx. I honestly think HSG might have helped the most by clearing things out.

My hormones were always great and my cycles super regular, so it was frustrating not having answers.

Here’s what I did the month I conceived:

  • Anti-inflammatory diet, though I started mid-cycle (so baby was already implanting)
  • Mucinex (liquid) 1–2 days before ovulation, a few hours before BD
  • Castor oil packs on lower belly daily until ovulation
  • Yoni steam with chamomile tea every night until ovulation
  • Serrapeptase twice a day after HSG
  • Fertility massage videos from YouTube until ovulation
  • BD for 5 days before and once after LH peak (used smiley OPKs)
  • Legs up for 30 mins after BD
  • Sperm-friendly lube a few minutes before

I know how hard this journey is. I just wanted to say—don’t give up. Sometimes it takes just one little thing to make the difference. Sending love and baby dust to all of you.

AnonKat · 27/05/2025 18:35

It took me nearly 4 years and I'm currently 12 weeks 🙂

Ladyinpink1 · 28/05/2025 18:16

@Moonriseeeee thank you so much for typing all of that out. Congratulations! How lovely to have success after so long. You sound similar to me in that it's very unexplained but I had my hsg this cycle so that's good.

A few things on your list I am doing now, a few I haven't heard of so going to Google them. Thank you 😊

@AnonKat Congratulations, that is lovely to hear 😊
