12 Week Scan Nerves

Hey - I have my 12 weeks scan tomorrow midday and I am absolutely crapping it. I have had previous miscarriages so this explains my nerves and I also hate hospitals. I had a scan at 8 weeks and heart beat was detected and baby was in the right place etc. I’ve got a little bump coming now but it feels more like pregnancy bloating.

I guess I’m just so used to the negatives happening i’m waiting for it to come at some point.

Recommendations on how to ease anxiety in pregnancy would be lovely! - C x

Unfortunately I don't have much advice regarding anxiety management. I will say try to focus on the "odds" more than anything. I was anxious for my 8 week scan and 12 week scan.

I frequently use this website:

The odds of you going on to have a healthy pregnancy is almost 95% which are great odds!

Good luck at your scan

Miscarriage Odds Reassurer

A positive spin on Miscarriage. The Reassurer shows you the odds of miscarriage and birth based on pregnancy length and maternal history.

Scanxiety is the absolute worst.

All you can do is try to stay busy and keep your mind occupied between now and the scan. At this moment in time, you are pregnant, you've had no indication that anything is wrong and the fact you saw a healthy heartbeat at over 8 weeks means you're chance of MC has dropped significantly.
Keep focusing on all of those positives.

Good luck.

@sel2223 i had a little bleed at 10 weeks. But I wasn’t sure if it came from the front of back as i had been constipated. I phoned EPU regardless because of my history but because i had a scan 2 weeks prior and bleeding didn’t get heavier they said to monitor it and didn't seem concerned. So thats probably not helping my nerves at all.

I will say to clarify i will be nearer 14 weeks than 12 because its taken that long to get a scan.

Thankyou everyone! update -

The waiting MY GOD. I was desperate for a wee, obviously couldn't go but also on the verge of absolutely wetting myself. So being nervous and then having to wait 20 minutes to be seen after my appointment time was due was not ideal. But she was happy with everything, everything was looking well, could see the heartbeat etc. There was a trainee in aswell observing and she asked if it would be ok once she had done everything if he was able to have a look etc. I said yes was fine, and because i had said yes she give me an extra picture as a good will gesture so only ended up paying for 1 which was lovely. EDD was slightly off from private scan, was 2 days out so due in August now not July.

I'm still worrying that something will go wrong. Wish we could just scan all the time whenever we need to so we can see everything is going ok. Feel like the next scan is ages away.
