High BMI & folic acid - TTC

Just returned from the clinic getting my implant removed! My TTC Baby No.2 starts now… hopefully!

anyway, despite my weight being lower this time around, I still have BMI over 30 and when I had my daughter I needed the 5mg folic acid but was only prescribed to me once I’d saw the midwife at 8weeks pregnant.

Any idea if just requesting a telephone appointment is enough? My GP is a nightmare for appointments. Or could I go to a pharmacy? TIA!

How exciting! Does your surgery do e-consults? That’s what I’d do. Or else a telephone appointment would be fine I’m sure, unless you’ve got other health concerns/are on medications that might be problematic in pregnancy I doubt they’d need to see you in person. Good luck with it all!

You won't be able to get it from the pharmacy - i had a nightmare trying to get it sorted after my midwife advised I take the higher dose and didn't end up getting it until 12weeks. I'd do an econsult and ask if the GP can just do a prescription to the pharmacy. My GP did it over the phone in the end.

Thank you both! I’ll try e-consult first. Rarely use GP as they’re SUCH a chew on!
