End of 1st trimester - cramping

I am 12 +5 weeks and last night I had some twinges like period cramps on my left side. This has continued this morning, noticeable to me but not painful or anything.

Is this anything to worry about or is this common/normal? Google seems to say nothing to worry about.

I have my first scan and booking appointment on Thursday (Northern Ireland) and will bring up then to midwife.
First pregnancy so not sure what is normal or not!

Thank you

I'm 16 weeks and I cramp a lot, like mild period cramps and twinges. I work on the basis that as long as it isn't worse than a period cramp, and isn't accompanied by blood, then it's fine. If you think about it, it makes sense to have cramps, you have something moving around in your uterus, and your uterus is stretching and changing shape. When I think about it like that I'm surprised it doesn't hurt more!

Im currently 14 weeks and I experience some light cramping on my left side. I think its quite normal. Wow - booking appointment so late? Is this standard practice in NI?

Thank you both that's out my mind at ease!

@lulu89x yes, they do the 12wk scan and booking in together in my area and I think it is the same across NI.

They try to get as close to 12 weeks as possible but isn't unheard of to wait until 14 weeks if a trust is very busy! It's definitely a long wait. This first trimester has felt like 12 months never mind 12 weeks!! Grin
