TTC 1yr & unpredictable cycle

TTC 1yr, 34, partner already has a child.

We’ve had no success, cycles are between 28 and 35 days so 21 day progesterone test is really hard to get to be accurate.

Had one recently which I thought was cycle day 21 but no sign of AF (cd34). Result came back as unlikely that ovulation occurred (so long as my period comes in the next 7 days) which it hasn’t done.

Ive got an absence of PMS symptoms which is really rare for me and pregnancy test is BFN.

Just looking for some hope, guidance and advice of what to do next with the NHS. I have a scan in a few days but Sod’s Law AF will show!

I have natural cycles, which is probably not ideal as contraception but really good for knowing when you ovulate which I guess is what you’re looking for? I sync it with my watch so don’t have to temp every morning

Thank you I’ll look into this. I’ve tried BBT thermometer before but found there are so many variables in my life I can never be regular with it! ❤️

Can you use the ovulation tests? Buy the cheap easy at home tests. You might get tired due to long cycles but hopefully if you reach a peak, you could then know to ask your gp for the 21 day progesterone test- 7 days after that. Then you would have the truer test, but also if you manage a peak you’ll know if you’ve dtd before ovulation too?

My cycles are regular ~31 days and I ovulate around day 18. I did have one cycle though where I ovulated on day 24, I only know because of the tracking.

That’s a really good point. We have binned off the sticks as it was adding pressure but to get an accurate test could be a plan. Thank you - sometimes you need an outside voice!

@Alice19888 thats ok, it’s worth trying like you said to get the 21 day test at the right point.

Good luck. It must be frustrating though having long and irregular cycles because it means ovulation is moving/being delayed and it’s then harder to know if you have covered that cycle or even when your period is due.
