Hi all!
waiting to hear back from community midwife so unsure if anyone can help while I wait.
currently 13 weeks pregnant. - 29 years old
i was born with gastroschisis - bowel on the outside.
As a result had double hernia removal, hernia repair (at toddler age) - this included fitting a patch to repair.
i have 2 abdominal scars.
my only knowledge of this from what my parents were told when I was 3 (26 years ago)
is that during pregnancy I can’t go full term due to risk of natural labour and I’d need a C section.
my last big operation like that was when I was a toddler so my body has grown alot since then ofcourse and I’ve never had an issue.
went to my 12 week scan and was asked my a midwife if my stomach will be able to stretch, obviously I don’t know that?
I’ve received an appointment for consultation with a consultant on 2nd April - I’ll be 24 weeks by then.
if anyone has been consultant led- is it normal to wait that long?
I also feel concerned that I’m not getting actual professional opinions and help and theyre looking to me help when they are the professionals and should refer this on?
Unsure if anyone has had a similar issue or medical issues when pregnant? How did it go?
it was discussed with my midwife at my 1st appointment that I may need a consultant so unsure why I’ve only just been referred on?
can’t help but feel like I’m slipping through the cracks slightly and I’m worried about mine and my babies health!
just feel really stressed & upset atm
thank you all in advance!
