Correct me if I'm wrong, someone, but isn't it far more likely to be told you are having a girl then have a boy?

piratecat · 06/05/2008 23:09

why? (wonders)

swampster · 06/05/2008 23:15

[not wanting to sound mean emoticon] Teeny tiny willies are hard to spot on a scan. But if a willy has been seen by sonographer (famously good at reading clouds) then a WILLY has been seen!

littlelamb · 06/05/2008 23:28

Lollyheart, I have the same fear. I am sure I saw a willy several times on my 20 week scan but the sonographer said she didn't like to tell people. This pregnancy has been so different to my one with dd that I am absolutely convinced its a boy- all the clothes are blue. I only have 3 weeks left to find out, but I will get a hell of a shock if this one is a girl!

my cousin is a midwife when i was told dd1 was a girl she told me if they tell you its a boy then it is almost definately a boy but if they say its a girl it could be a boy with its willy tucked out of sight somewhere

chipmonkey · 07/05/2008 00:12

I have had 4 very different pregnancies and all turned out to be boys so agree with jura!

Divvy · 07/05/2008 09:50

The sonographer I had was very chuffed at what she had found, so most of my scan pics have a X on.....marking where his willy is!

After having 4 girls, nappy changing is going to be bit different!

jingleyjen · 07/05/2008 09:53

I had 2 different pregnancies one very sick one not, one carried out front one all round, one prefering savory food one sweet, one hated tea and coffee one loving it.. you get the picture
I had 2 boys.

looneytune · 07/05/2008 09:57

My best mates friend was told she was having a boy and it came out a girl. I agree they are more likely to get a girl prediction wrong than a boy but mistakes can be made. Unless you are having another scan, you can only wait and see.

Nero · 07/05/2008 10:01

The only "mistakes" I have heard of are people being told they are having a boy, and it turns out to be a girl.

Could you get a private scan to confirm?

I was so paranoid about this I had a 4d scan to confirm that I was having a girl. And I STILL didn't believe it until she was out!

She is most definitely a girl btw.

morningpaper · 07/05/2008 10:07

Mine weasn't sure - she said it was either swollen labia or bollocks (I assume!). It turned out to be fat labia

Essie3 · 07/05/2008 10:23

Oh, no! I definitely saw the willy and testes on the scan (not by myself - she found them for me). What else could it be? It's going to be a shocker if my baby is a girl. She'll have an identity crisis!

lollyheart · 07/05/2008 10:25

I really dont mind what it is.

when i had scan with ds she froze the screen so i could see his willy.

i no she nos what she is it one of those things have to see it to belive it.

ive got a 4d scan in a few weeks hopefully i should see a willy then

My friend was told she was having a boy so bought everything blue..she had a girl

goingfor3 · 07/05/2008 10:29

At 20 weeks I was told I was having a girl and the songrapher even pointed out the shadow of the labia. At 30 weeks I had another scan and a different sonographer pointed out a very obvious and large scrotum!!! 3 weeks and I will find out who was right!

lollyheart · 07/05/2008 10:34

ment to put i no what she is doing

That's interesting Nero I've been told I'm having a boy, dh is convinced it's correct as the facial profile was very much like a boy he said (before we were told about bits). BUT....I've always felt it's a girl (the same as felt ds was a boy when I pg with him). Oh well, we'll know in about 7 weeks

Becky77 · 07/05/2008 12:19

I wonder how rare it is for them to get it wrong at a 28 week 4d scan?

We were told at 20 and 28 weeks that we're having a girl and everyone has bought her pink stuff but I wont 100% believe it until she arrives!

chipmonkey · 07/05/2008 16:54

A girl I "know" on another forum was told she was having a boy on a 4D scan at 26 weeks. She had a baby girl prematurely 4 weeks later! I would imagine the chances of this happening are probably less than 5%. At the 4D scan I had, I had to sign a disclaimer saying I wouldn't buy pink or blue on the basis of the scan so they must get it wrong sometimes.

MerlinsBeard · 07/05/2008 17:00

i felt for sure that ds2 was a girl

Cadmum · 07/05/2008 17:03

My sil was told that her dd4 was a boy at the 20 week scan. This was actually confirmed at a later one as well by a different sonographer. It does happen.

Divvy · 07/05/2008 18:24

Maybe I will hang on the pink stuff then!
