ANTI D QUESTION

This is my first pregnancy and I am rehsus negative not sure what blood group baby is yet, I am 16 weeks today and 2 nights ago I walked into the door frame and bruised my lower abdomen and it is tender to touch, I rang my midwife and she wasn’t concerned at all -my question is if you have a bump and your blood mixes with baby does it affect this pregnancy or just any pregnancies going forward?! Thanks !!

I'm rhesus negative and fell off a high stool during my first pregnancy. I did contact the midwife but they didn't advise an injection.
I was only offered the anti D injection after my second child was born, so am presuming the first is also r negative.
I still think you should contact the midwife just for peace of mind if you're worried.

Oh, just noticed you said you'd already contacted the midwife - I'm sure her advice is fine.

Do you know the blood type of the father? Also if any blood mixes it won’t affect this pregnancy, only subsequent ones if this baby is rh+.

Fellow rhesus negative mum here, as others have mentioned it wouldn’t affect your first pregnancy, only subsequent ones. Try not to worry, at 16 weeks your baby still has plenty of protective padding. Hope you’re not too sore!
