13 weeks Nose Bleeds

Hi 😊

so 13+2 today, had a reassurance scan at 8 weeks and everything was fine. NHS scan is booked for Tuesday, i’ll be 13+6 by then. I am so nervous for the scan as I had one little bleed unsure if it was from the back or front at the time, panicked and called EPU. They weren’t concerned. Had nothing since. Im starting to show / pregnancy bloat now so i’m hoping all is ok?

anyway apart from pure anxiety, I keep getting random little nose bleeds always from my one nostril. Is this a concern or is it normal? I never experienced this when I had my other 2 children.

thanks - C x

The only time I have ever had nose bleeds was when I was pregnant.

Yes quite normal, the extra blood you have can cause that. If it's ever gushing loads then call maternity.

I used to get lots of nose bleeds as a child and then stopped only to come back when I was pregnant. I ready that it’s fairly common. My partner was kind of horrified but it wasn’t a big deal to me as I’d had them years before.

I'm one of those suffering nosebleeds as well (I'm 31 weeks now and still getting them).

1 in 6 pregnant women get them apparently

Oooh thanks everyone! Its not even like gushing its just every now and again theres a trickle. Doesn’t even really drip. Just covers in the nostril if that makes sense.

I’m currently experiencing this with just my left nostril! I thought maybe the air in my house is too dry as the heating is constantly on. Glad I’m not alone!

@Lulu89x really?! Mines always the right 😂 but it is weird. I thought maybe something was triggering it at first but then i realised there was no pattern and it just came whenever. So strange i never had it in my own pregnancies

I got the odd nosebleed as a child but never as an adult until I was pregnant with DS2... who is now 13 and regularly gets nosebleeds. He has had his nose cauterized twice now, which works well though. In contrast, his 16yo brother has never had one.

Never had a nosebleed in my life and then I hit 18 weeks pregnant and they started 😂 NHS website and midwife said it’s common for this stage of pregnancy.

Mine weren’t too heavy, lasted a few minutes. Since then I’ve had random instances of a bloody nose but not a full on nosebleed again.
