Looking for some advice please, I’m 15+5 and for past few days felt a heavy feeling below my belly line presumed it was just where everything is beginning to stretch, then had a few instances when needing a wee in the night I couldn’t go until walked around for a bit and then I could go, now today I have a permanent dull ache in my lower abdomen, I have seen my midwife today she took a wee sample and said it all looked ok but she will send it off aswell, she wasn’t too helpful and just told me if the pains gets worse to contact my GP! Just looking for advice from other mums does this sound normal is it just baby putting pressure on or could it be something more serious?! Thankyou!

Sounds more like a UTI to me, hopefully the wee sample will be done asap x

She did the dip test and it didn’t show anything which I kinda was hoping it would atleast to explain the pains x

Sometimes a uti doesn’t show straight away on a urine test because the symptoms have only just begun, that’s what happened to me and I ended up going to A&E where they did more thorough tests and I did infact have a uti and needed antibiotics, I would suggest doing the same if you are in pain ❤️

Are you constipated? It is really common to experience bad constipation in pregnancy and it can cause severe pain and bladder problems.

What symptoms did you have? My wee doesn’t sting it’s just that heavy dull ache x

Lactulose plus plenty of water is safe and you can buy it over the counter.
Don't eat stuff like weetabix and allbran because it sets like concrete and blocks you up.
Salad, cooked carrots, vegetable soup, porridge, prunes and prune juice are good. Fresh pineapple is great.
I am a retired midwife and this is the advice I was taught.

Sometimes uti doesn’t show any symptoms for some people but I would say still worth getting it checked out if it’s a constant ache I had severe pain x
