Crib Mattress - new one for each baby?

I'm due no2 in a few weeks, and will be reusing the next2me crib from no1. Do I need a new mattress?

I know the recommendation is to buy new if the mattress was used by a baby from another household, but can't really find clear guidance for reusing on two related babies. DD is 3 1/2, so the mattress hasn't been used for 3 years if that makes a difference - and the cover does seem to have gathered quite a lot of dust (though I'll obviously wash it).

Personally I reused, but would depend on where it had been stored. If there was a risk it had become damp or even musty, I’d avoid.

I plan to reuse our next2me mattress for our next that we used for DS (he’s 21 months old now). Providing it’s fully ok, it’s stored in a bedroom just resting in its bag so I’m hoping it’s ok but obviously we will find out in a few months time when we check.

Im buying a new mattress for a Moses but I picked the Moses up from the village group so I don’t trust the flimsy stained mattress it came with. I bought a new liner for it too. We didn’t have a Moses with DS we used the pushchair carrycot. Just trying to not have a whole pushchair set up in the living room this time though with DS being an enthusiastic toddler with many toys and loves to climb.

I planned on using mine again but when I got it from the loft it had a lot of dust and what looked like mould spots but not sure if it was just dirt. Either way i obviously didn't want to take the risk so bought a new one. I'd just judge how it looks :)

I’ll be getting a new one personally for my Snuzpod that I’m reusing.

Thanks everyone. I'll inspect it more over the weekend and see what we think.

We didn't replace but then mine was a glorified clothes horse for both kids since they ended up in bed with me 😂

My son had moved from a cot to bed three months before his sister was born, I didn't change the mattress.

I’m due in a few weeks and ended up buying a new mattress in the end. Found conflicting guidance when I tried to research and ultimately decided given how bad my postpartum anxiety and OCD was last time I wasn’t going to risk giving my brain anything to fixate on that could easily be fixed by buying a new one.

We used the same one
