Hi,
recently had my anatomy scan I was 22w5days and babies femur was measuring 2.5 weeks behind also humerus....we were referred to fetal medicine specialist and told could be genetic problem, Down syndrome or skeletal dysplasia or just small baby, and told to come back in 2 weeks for growth scan and if I want a amniocentesis, I had NIPT at 12 weeks all low risk....
so we went for scan again 24w5days and now femur is still behind, humerus is still on short side but caught up a bit....overall baby is measuring small in abdomen and head...they said they are happy with growth over d last 2 weeks and all other things on scan are as they should be face/head/spine/kidneys/bowels ect.
we go again in 2 weeks for another growth scan, also decided on amniocentesis so wait for results 🤞🏽
has anyone had this and what was the outcome? Worried sick can't think of anything else day and night!
thAnks

Hiya! From my 20 week scan I was referred to fetal medicine up until now (35 weeks) I’ve had a scan every 2/3 weeks and each scan the femur has been short but growing. All other measurements are also on the short side so they are just saying small baby as the femur has always grown not just stayed the same. My tests at 12 week scan also came back low risk!

Hiya @KMG30 thanks for your reply,
glad ur little one has been growing even if smaller, really hoping that's the case for us! It's so worrying I don't no how il make it to the end of pregnancy with the stress but hoping I will 🤞🏽

Hi OP, my LO’s long bones measured small from around 26 weeks. I was really worried about Downs or skeletal dysplasia (I wasn’t offered an amino) but a later growth scan showed abnormalities with the blood flow to my placenta. I did have to deliver my LO two months early as the blood flow got a lot worse, they spent a few weeks in NICU, but they are now doing really well and meeting all adjusted milestones.

I know how stressful this time is (I think I spent about 90% of the time after the first growth scan crying or frantically Googling stuff) so sending you all of the good vibes xx

Thanks for reply @BFhelp2024

so happy all is well with your baby, im
sure NICU wasn't easy but glad all turned out well!

im hoping the same for us, they say placenta is working well that they can see but from what Iv read that can change or after delivery see that it wasn't!
that 2 week wait was prob worst of my life, happy he has grown a bit please god may it continue and results come back clear 🤞🏽

Hello,

I am going through the exact same thing, 20w scan on Monday and they said femur/long bones are all behind.
we are panicking so much and can’t think of anything else this week.
Our fetal medicine appointment isn’t until this coming monday!
Hope all works out well for you, it is such a worry isn’t it.

Hi @Nph90 firstly sorry you are going through this also the worry is u bearable!
I had a second growth scan since first and there is growth but all over measurements are small stomach/head/humerus but femur is >5% they did say good that there is growth but still so worrying! I had Amnio 2 weeks ago and got 1st and 2nd set of results back and all clear thankfully just wait now for last set the skeletal ones and go from there, Iv another growth scan this coming Tuesday really hoping there has been some growth! Hope all goes well for u on Monday let me no how u get on
