Scan tomorrow and possibly starting a cold?

Hello I have my 12 week scan tomorrow (even though I’m 13 weeks today) we had some early scans due to this being an ivf pregnancy but still anxious to see the baby again/make sure everything is ok. I was awake most of last night with a savage headache and have a bit of blocked nose this morning. I’ve stayed home from work because I was feeling pretty rough but I’m nervous that it’s going to develop and I’ll have to reschedule scan? Or am I (quite likely) overthinking it? Also this is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what I can and can’t take for a cold. Any advice welcome, I popped a couple of paracetamol earlier for my headache thank you 🙏🏻

You can still go to your scan with a cold. And yes, just take paracetamol.

Hot lemon, ginger and manuka honey
Plenty of fluids
Paracetamol
Saline nose spray/inhale steam
Have a nice sleep today

There is very little you can take for a cold in pregnancy tbh, paracecetamol, hot water with lemon with honey in it, there's a nasal saline spray without additives, sterimar, that I found great to help with a blocked nose, and boiled sweets.

Do a covid test. If negative go to your appointment using a face mask throughout the clinic visit and handgel.

Don't reschedule the scan. Just wrap up, dose up and get there. Then hope to bed feeling happier because you've checked in on your baby.

Thanks everyone for your replies and advice! Blocked nose has vanished and headache seems to have lifted so I think I’m ok. I’ll keep an eye obviously and hopefully all will be well for scan tomorrow.

Go and enjoy your scan, you can take paracetamol whilst pregnant, you probably feel worse because your getting stressed about having to miss scan etc but you should still go if it's only a cold xx

@TheThreeMiracles absolutely fine today, I’d go so far as to say pretty good. Slept a lot yesterday so I’m sure that helped. Just feeling nervous about scan this afternoon to be honest x

I know! At the other two we had I was squeezing so tight especially as I had a haematoma but that had gone by the second scan at 8 weeks. Scan at 3:15pm, working this morning which is helpful I must say! Thank you so much for being so nice, it’s lovely how supportive people are here x

Eekkkk not long to wait now!! I have my scan Tuesday and I'm counting down the sleeps hours and minutes 🫣

Hope the scan went well

All went extremely well thank you! They were wriggly around kicking their legs and even gave us a wave. The sonographer was really happy kept saying they were perfect. Now just waiting on bloods from screening 🤞🏻

With my first I found out at the scan with 2nd I had a gender reveal both really lovely ways to find out with my 3rd we will wait for the surprise in June ! Xx

Oh no we’ll find out at the scan, we’re not really gender reveal people though I think it’s cool that people do it! Aw that’s exciting you’re due in June I’m July which is birthday month too 🥰
