Pattern of movements...

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm 28 weeks and wanted to see if anyone had any advice on tracking the pattern of babies' movements.

What should I count as 'normal' and what am I comparing this patten to? Is it the pattern than forms now that I'm 28 weeks or in comparison to the movements that have come before this time? What is 'normal'?

The reason I ask is that during 25/26 weeks my baby moved every hour or so for a burst of about a week. Since then it's been much more sporadic (as it was before), usually first thing when I wake up, sometime around the middle of the day, and then in the evening. Much 'reduced' versus that week of movement where I seemed to feel the baby constantly. It seems that this less regular pattern is now normal as it's been a good few days of these timings.

Is the advice that I look at the pattern now that I am 28 weeks and compare to this, or is it an issue that I'm feeling less than before...I did go to triage 2 days ago due to this reduction and heartbeat etc was fine they didn't give much more info.

I'm probably overcomplicating/overthinking this but would love to know if anyone has any thoughts.

Thanks so much

The reason 28 weeks is used as a guide is because prior to that, baby still has quite a lot of room to move around and change positions, tuck into the nooks and crannies etc so it's not uncommon for the 'pattern' to keep changing.

In the third trimester, there isn't as much room and baby tends to settle into position and develop a more regular routine....'from' 28 weeks.

Of course this isn't exact, it's not just one day you start paying attention as everyone will be different. If ever you suddenly have a change in what you've been feeling then absolutely you should be calling up and getting checked over.

I'm no expert and please do call if you are worried but it sounds to me like what you're feeling now is your babies pattern and this is what to expect each day. It can still vary depending on how active you are and what you eat/ drink etc.

I'm 31 weeks and i don't use apps or anything like that, I just have a general idea of how and when I normally feel movements each day.

I'm 32 weeks and still don't really understand what the pattern is! At night is when I notice movement more but it's not the same amount every night. As long as I feel something every few hours then I'm reassured.

from my understanding it’s looking out for a pattern from around this time onwards & then if anything deviates from that then getting it checked out?

currently 38 weeks and before 28 weeks there was less of a pattern, now even though I don’t feel her constantly moving around throughout the day she moves consistently around the same time everyday

I’m not an expert though & they’d always prefer you go in and get checked if you’re worried or unsure!
