Help, early ultrasound dated me at 5 weeks but I calculated 7 weeks

So I went for a private early ultrasound yesterday at (what I thought) 7 weeks pregnant, the Sonographer said I measured at 5 weeks and she could only see the sac and yolk sac, no baby. Obviously this devastated myself and my partner and we left thinking that’s it and I will miscarry. I’ve had slight brown spotting last week but nothing major and never had to wear a pad etc. my first day of my last period was 2/12/2024 and I got my first positive on 31/12/2024. I had a raging positive ovulation test on 16/12/2024 so if I count from then I would be 5 weeks but I don’t know whether it can work like that. Also to add I got a 3+ on clearblue weeks indicator on 12/01/2025.

Just hoping someone has been through this and has a similar story as just so scared and not sure what to think 😢

Did they book you for a rescan or refer you to epu? I had a mmc found at private scan and they told me they’d refer me to the local epu and never did🙄 so if you haven’t already I’d definitely give them a call they were much more helpful! I was measuring a week behind with no heartbeat but the baby was over 7 weeks so was definitely a mc for me!
Was the scan internal? You could definitely be a bit less than 7 weeks if you implanted later, not sure if that would account for 2 weeks though 😖

They said to me to get in touch with the epu, I phoned them today and all they said is that it is possible I'm 2 weeks behind and because I've had no bleeding or pain then they won't be able to book me in for a scan! I'm just so confused as surely if you know your ovulation date then you would date the pregnancy back to then and not the first day of your last period?? Don't understand it at all! Just really hoping for the best

Yes the scan was internal

I've had this twice. Once was good news on rescan, once was bad. There's nothing that can be done except wait unfortunately. I'd hope the private clinic would rescan in a couple of weeks?

Ok thank you for your reply! It's such a tough wait, I haven't been offered a rescan. I think I'm going to phone the epu again later on this week to see if they can get me in for a scan even though I'm not sure they will.

I would definitely call tomorrow and request a scan, I honestly don’t see how they can say no when you’ve had an inconclusive scan that is different to your dates! Especially since you’ve been spotting. They got me in the next day for a rescan
