Brown spotting - 5 weeks

Hi all,

I am about 5 weeks pregnant and have known for about a week. I had sex this morning and about ten hours later, noticed some very slight brown spotting. A tiny bit in my underwear and tiny bit when I wipe. I feel incredibly anxious about it - just wondering could this be normal? I have read that it could be the cervix being irritated by sex. Is this likely? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Thank you in advance! X

I had this! It was on and off for a few weeks which really worried me. I phone EPU and managed to get a scan for 6 weeks. I was reassured that brown blood is old blood and to just keep an eye on it. Was told that if it became heavier, red or accompanied by bad cramps then to phone EPU back.
They couldn’t find a reason for the brown blood and put it down to an irritated cervix, my baby is 10 months now.

Hope everything goes okay for you 🤞

Didn't have this in my first pregnancy but did in my second, at 7 weeks, 10 weeks and even a little bit of red bleeding at 14 weeks. She's just turned 1. Brown is usually old blood and nothing to worry about.

@Lostworlds and @WhiteHorse92 thank you both so much for your replies and I’m so glad everything turned out ok with you both. I suppose I’ll just see what happens over the next few days. Thanks again xx

If anyone else has any helpful/reassuring experiences I would love to hear them x

No advice but I'm in the same boat.
6 weeks pregnant today. Yesterday morning had a wipe of brown blood. We'd had sex the night before so I'm hoping it's just that.

I've got a strong back ache though and my lack of symptoms is concerning me a bit.

I'm in at the GP tomorrow. I hope I can get a scan. We don't have an early pregnancy until here that I'm aware of (not UK)
Do you have that option? I've been reading old threads on it and lots of ppl seem to have reassurance scans.
Fingers crossed for you.
