How long after a chemical pregnancy did you get a negative on pregnancy test?

Had some light ‘one off’ brown bleeding on Monday 13th. Thought it was the start of my period bang on 29 days, but then no further bleeding. Realised I was 12 dpo, so did a strip pregnancy test, showed positive. Did a Cleablue on 13dpo (15th January), also positive. Have had some light (red) bleeding and cramping since 18th January evening. Preparing myself that it is a chemical pregnancy. Not sure when to test again, how soon after a chemical pregnancy should I expect a negative on a pregnancy test?

It only took a few days for the tests to turn negative when I had a chemical pregnancy, but I expect each person may be different... The tests were clear by the time the bleeding started. Having said that, it may not yet turn out to be a chemical pregnancy; I've certainly heard of women with similar symptoms going on to have a successful pregnancy despite some bleeding, so I wouldn't necessarily lose hope just yet (especially if the bleeding is light). I'm sorry you're going through this uncertainty.

My tests with my loss at 6 weeks went negative before any pain or bleeding started. My tests after my MMC were positive for 8 weeks afterwards.

Hi there, having similar symptoms myself, so I just wondered how you go on here?

Unfortunately I had a chemical. The bleeding became heavy (think period+) and then the line disappeared so negative tests. I hope all is okay with you

Oh I’m really sorry you had to go through that. I have had some bleeding, but nothing to the extent of a period yet so I’m holding on to some hope. Do you mind me asking how long it took to test negative? i’m also trying to keep an eye on that.

Sending best wishes

It was pretty quick, I would say within a day or 2 of having heavy bleeding. We managed to conceive again next cycle, had 20 week scan today and all is looking good! Hope you are doing ok

And just to add, I had intermittent brown spotting for weeks with this pregnancy until week 14/15, but so far all good

@MixedFeelings72 thank you for the info, it’s good to know what to look out for - thankfully I’m still testing positive almost a couple of weeks on, despite still spotting, so keen to have an early scan soon.

Great news that you conceived again and best wishes for your little ones arrival 😃 how exciting!
