Waters trickling at 14 weeks?

Right so i had a CVS done on Thursday, i had no cramping, no bleeding and felt fine.

But since last night i sometimes get a warm gush of water come out of me. It's not frequent, it's like it could happen in the morning at 10am and then not happen again until like 2pm, so surely it can't be my water trickling or amniotic fluid??? As it would be more frequent right??

Has anyone else experienced this and it's just been discharge/wee?

Thanks.

Is this your first baby? I have had this but it’s baby number 3 and my pelvic floor isn’t as strong as it used to be! May be worth getting it checked out though too x

This is my second pregnancy, normally when i cough i see a little haha, but it's just happening out of the blue now. I think i'm just panicking because of me having the CVS Xx

This used to happen to me and I think I was leaking urine but when my waters did go at 39 weeks it was also a little trickle and not the big gush. The midwives can test to see if it is amniotic fluid.

Was it frequent when you trickled when your water went?

You need to go to the EPU. They have special sanitary towel things that detect if it's amniotic fluid or wee.

If amniotic fluid is getting out, it means germs can get in and it's an infection risk for your baby.

You need to know asap if you have a leak, I would call the EPU now and explain you've had wee leaks, and this feels completely different.

Have you smelt it? If it’s wee you will know. Can you contact the hospital, they can swab to know if it’s waters or not.

This might be TMI but it does just smell like regular discharge🙈 It does have a smell, but definitely not wee.

You need to call your maternity unit/triage to be properly checked over, hopefully it’s just wee but no one here can tell you for sure. Pop a pad on now so they can see what you’ve passed when you get up there.

Thedarkmode · 18/01/2025 20:37

No not all the time but I knew it was my waters as I was already in hospital so I did have a pad on. I didn’t notice the feeling of it leaking all the time.

PlumpHobbit · 18/01/2025 20:50

I'd ring triage, it's safer to be checked, I mentioned to my midwife at an appointment I'd woken up to a soaked pregnancy pillow, but was 99% sure it was my hot water bottle having leaked, as it was less full, and also the top part by the stopper was wet

She said because there was even that small shred of doubt, I had to go straight to triage. Went, they did a swab, confirmed not amniotic, sent on my way (although they rang the next day that there was strep b on the swab so will need IV antibiotics when my waters do go, so actually it helped pick up something I'd have never known about)

Definitely give them a call, I'm definitely noticing my pelvic floor has deteriorated, however because it MAY be something more, best to check, they didn't make me feel like I was wasting their time even though it was almost certainly the hot water bottle

Overthebow · 18/01/2025 20:53

Please go get checked, if it doesn’t smell like weed it could be waters. It could be nothing but better to get it checked out.

WhatMe123 · 18/01/2025 21:01

Could just be discharge but I'd say get checked out

TY78910 · 18/01/2025 21:03

Wear a maternity pad (not the scented period pads) in case it happens and then head to EPAU. They can test the liquid

roycroppersshopper · 18/01/2025 21:12

Amniotic fluid smells like hay, quite distinctive.

Cupofteaandbiscuits · 18/01/2025 21:52

Amniotic fluid has a certain smell to it. Mine leaked at about 35 weeks. I’d stand up and it would trickle. They tested and it was fluid mid get checked x

Babybaby2025 · 18/01/2025 22:00

How hydrated are you? I had this last week and turned out i had a uti, the fluid was odourless, I suspect now that I was potentially just leaking urine but because I was so hydrated it was clear and not smelly. I don't know for sure though
