Hi everyone. I am 35+4 weeks pregnant today and the last few weeks I’ve had a horrible pins and needles/numbness sensation at the top of my tummy on the right side. It can be extremely painful at times especially if I breathe in too hard! The baby is breech and is more on that side. My midwife said it’s the stretching of the skin and the nerves trying to keep up. Another midwife told me they hadn’t heard of it before! Has anyone else experienced this..and if so did it go after birth? I’ve had a bad back that side too since 28 weeks pregnant to the point I can’t drive due to the pain! Thanks everyone

I had this too it's such a weird and annoying sensation!! I can't remember now many weeks exactly but it was toward the end. I was consultant lead and asked about it at an appointment, they said it is all to do with stretching and the nerves are so over stretched they become desensitised. I had the pain too and was worried it was pre eclampsia because it was on the right side, but it wasn't in my case thankfully. Maybe ask about the pain again just to be safe. It definitely all went away after baby was born.

I've had this a couple of times on the right hand side too. I'm 32 weeks and baby was breech at the scan 10 days ago. Mines didn't last for long but I was struggling to walk around the shop I was in properly because it was just there!
