Hi everyone,

Not sure if i'm over looking/thinking this. But can anyone see a nose or nasal bone in my 12 week scan? The face looks very flat to me🙈

Worried about my 12 week scan photo!

My scan looked the same. Baby had a nose when born, don't worry :-)

Aww okay! I think i'm only worrying because i've just had to have a CVS due to high chance of DS etc😞🤞🏼 x

Hospital staff did the scan. It's fine.

Jellycats4life · 17/01/2025 13:14

Chances are the face was at an angle so you can’t see the nose in that particular shot. If there had been a problem, they would have said so.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 17/01/2025 13:15

In my 12 week scan they couldn’t see DD’s nose bone but it was fine by 22 weeks

User543211 · 17/01/2025 13:15

Best not to try to look at it like it's a photograph graph. It's a 2d image of a 3d scan so it's not an accurate visual of what the baby actually looks like.

Overthebow · 17/01/2025 13:18

Surely the sonographer would have mentioned if there wasn’t a nasal bone? It’s hard to see from just a scan picture as you only get a snapshot in time and they move around a lot.

ffsfindmeausername · 17/01/2025 13:18

My dc2 scan was a bit like this. looks like baby's head is slightly turned to the side facing away and that's why the nose is not visible. I'm sure they would have said if there was a problem during the scan.

heroinechic · 17/01/2025 13:20

Looks like baby's head is turned away slightly. The sonographer would have checked for a nasal bone as part of the screening. Did they mention that they saw one or not? X

CeeceeBloomingdale · 17/01/2025 13:23

Kindly it's not a photo shoot, it's a diagnostic procedure carried out by a fully trained medical profession. If they had picked up on something unusual you would have been made fully aware of it. If nothing was said then no issue was detected and the scan print was at a slightly off angle.

They’re just turned slightly away from the scanning wand, that’s all.

sel2223 · 17/01/2025 14:57

If there was any issue identified, it would have been pointed out by the sonographer

OP has just gone through a CVS for risk of T21. A flat nasal bridge is a marker for T21 so she's bound to be concerned if she feels thats what she sees in the picture. Seriously put yourselves in her shoes before commenting so harshly. No advice OP but I am thinking of you and hope your results come back ok x

Disagree that it's harsh in any way to respond that OP would have been told if anything had been picked up on the scan - even more so with her history. Everyone here has provided reassurance that there doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.

Maybe you need the softly softly approach but a lot of people respond better to a straight clear answer to alleviate any worries.

Don't project.

Not projecting in the slightest you've no idea what approach I may or may not like?!😂 I work with families dealing with these scenarios and saying 'it's not a photoshoot' is unnecessary when a mother is in pain. That was harsh.

And you've no idea what approach the OP or anyone else may like.
Bottom line is everyone has offered their reassurances to the OP in their own way. You are literally going out of your way to find fault and be offended on behalf of someone else.
Stop derailing the thread.

It's an open and forum and I think it's fair to say it's pretty disgusting to tell her to stop thinking of it as a photoshoot when she's worried about the health of her baby. There's literally nothing wrong with what I said. But props to you for starting the derailing👍🏼

Yeah OK, you're exhausting so I'm going to leave you to it.

Hopefully OP has been reassured by the responses which is the important thing.
