Hi all was hoping for some advice. Basically my last period was 8th of December…. My cycles vary (32-40) days etc they have always been like that my whole life. We have a 4 year old daughter to and it never affected anything getting pregnant. Just how that’s always been my normal since I had periods as teen, Anyway my last period was 8th December. And I ovulated say 28th/29th of December, got peak on 28th December if I remember correctly. First bfp on 6th of January at 8dpo. (Must have implanted early?) And now tonight 16th of January clear blue digital 3 + weeks. How many weeks are we? Reason we ask wanted to book early scan, because I feel the whole 12 week wait is far too long lol and my birthday is coming up on 4th of February ideally would like to tell grandparents then. And wanted to book scan for Monday the 3rd February? Would that be enough for the early Scan for some reassurance ? Thanks for reading and congratulations everyone :)

I would say when you are 8wks as you should be able to see something then and would take into consideration a bit of uncertainty either way.

Ok thanks. Was hoping to do it around 7 weeks 3 days but I think you’re right probably best waiting until 8 weeks.

7w 3d is fine as you should see a fetal pole by 6.5 weeks with heartbeat. If you don't see a heartbeat at 7w 3d it's unlikely to be viable unless your dates place you further back. But based on when you got your BFP you can't be. Also no matter when you get your scan they will only confirm non viability with a second scan (in case dates are wrong) and only EPU could do that. So a few days between 7w3d and 8 makes no difference to viability assurance.

This shows you diagnostic criteria

Hello, I also ovulated 28th/29th December and got my first positive on the 7th Jan!

I've had multiple miscarriages, so my EPU have booked me in to make sure the pregnancy is in the right place etc on 3rd Feb! So, they wouldn't do it before that as there js a risk of not seeing much and said 7 weeks should be fine to see what they need to see.

It's better if you can wait until 8+ weeks because 6-8 weeks is still quite a risky time in pregnancy so, even if you've been earlier and seen everything is in the right place, it doesn't offer a massive amount of reassurance.

If you see a healthy heartbeat after 8 weeks, the risk of miscarriage drops significantly. No guarantees ever of course but it's a big difference.
