Good evening all.

I am today exactly 11 weeks pregnant with my second baby.
I am 34 and both pregnancies are IVF.

First pregnancy was 4 years ago and no issues whatsoever.
However this baby is giving me a hard time.. Week 6 I started to bleed and passed large clots. The same at 10+0 weeks, 10+2 and 10+3.

I have had an ultrasound today, baby happily moving around and looks healthy... but.... they found a huge hematoma, twice the size of the gestational sac..
They weren't really optimistic with options they gave me and I can't take my mind of it.. anyone had similar experience with very big hematoma and delivered healthy baby?
Adding a picture of the ultrasound today..
TIA xx

Hi lovely,

I’m mainly commenting to bump for you.

It was 5 years ago now, but I had one, I think it was smaller and I was told as the baby grows, it tends to shrink (or something like that).

Hope you get some helpful advice babe and congratulations xx

I had a large SCH when pregnant, bled on and off all the way through which was scary as hell, but on the positive side he turns 4 next month. It is possible to get through this, take it easy and try to remain positive x

I had a huge one. Very common with IVF pregnancies, as you may know. Once it bled so much I poured a puddle of blood out of my shoes in the A&E waiting room. Baby was born prematurely but totally fine (prematurity 99% unrelated, I have a womb abnormality too).

All you can do is wait which is excruciating. I will wait with you and keep everything crossed for you. x

Massive hugs because it is an awful thing to go through and now worry about. I bled at 6 weeks something then 7 weeks and 3 days I think. I lost a lot of blood, massive clots the size of my middle finger. I was checked over at the hospital as they wanted me in due to how many pads I had gone through but they couldn't scan me externally and the bleed was too heavy at that point. The senior gynae chap checked through the clots (I was told to collect it and bring it in) and said it was just all pure blood clot and nothing else. I was scanned 2 days later and my SCH was over half the size of the uterus.

Because of how much blood I Iost initially and how big the SCH was just 2 days later I was put on bed rest at home, no walking, no lifting, no sex, no orgasms either and told to do nothing. There is information on medical websites about the risks with SCH and it is up to you if you want to read up on that.

That little bundle of chaos is now 18 years old. He was my second pregnancy, ELCS because my first was EMCS. This has come up a lot on MN over the years with lots of positive stories of healthy babies. I would say do as little as possible if you can until your next scan can check the situation.

Thank you everyone!! It made me feel much more calm.. I know that everywhere on internet I could read about it, and I did, that’s why I was freaking out even more and wanted to see some real life stories xx
