Hello. I'm 36+3 and have been on cefaflexin for the past few days to get treat a UTI that never went away. It says some can get into breast milk and I started colostrum collecting earlier on this week. Does anybody know if this antibiotic is safe in the colostrum and if I can still give it to baby when they're born?

It is a breastfeeding safe antibiotic so you could use the colostrum but some babies do get diarrhoea as a side effect from mums taking antibiotics. Obviously if you have an active infection whilst breastfeeding then it is super important you still take the antibiotics but it might be worth discussing it with your midwife as to whether she thinks it's worth giving that to baby. Amazing you can harvest colostrum already.
