Progesterone at 7 weeks

Hello ladies,

Just looking for some personal experiences.

I had an early scan today at 7 weeks due to bleeding. Baby there with heartbeat but they found a subchronic hematoma as the source of the bleeding.

As I have a history of MC, they suggested I start progesterone now until 12 weeks.

I'm a bit unsure about this due to the unknown long term effects on baby and just wondering if anyone can shed some light? Also wondering if there's any point as everything I'm reading says it's most effective if taken before 9 weeks and I'm a large part of the way to being there already...

Thanks!

Xx

Hi OP, this has been really well researched in recent years and that's what brought about the policy of progesterone to prevent miscarriage. I don't think theres any substantial evidence of risk to the baby.

Hospital told me there's no side effects other than the chalk residue the suppositories leave - gross lol
