Braxton hicks?

Question re: Braxton hicks - when they say they shouldn't be painful but uncomfortable is fine and normal, what exactly do they mean? Can anyone else describe them for me? Had what i think were these in the night, woke me up quiet a bit and i started to wonder if it was more than that, all settled down now but just curious.

I'm 31 weeks by the way.

I sometimes found them uncomfortable - bump went absolutely rock hard - can walk when I have them but not very fast - definitely more uncomfortable when lying down. you feel them all in your tummy whereas real contractions are felt in your back too

mine were often brought on by having had caffeine - swapping to de-caff products reduced the amount of them alot

See how things go and if they keep waking you up and are really painful again tonight I would ring midwife. I had really bad pains in night that I dismissed as Braxton Hicks then daughter was born prematurely (at 32+4). Pains were only at night and I was fine during day. From what I've read, Braxton Hicks not meant to be painful.

Sorry if I've worried you but it was one of those with the benefit of hindsight things that I realised something had obviously been happening for a while before she was born. (She's absolutely fine by the way).

Good luck and fingers crossed for a restful night.

not painful exactly, but you can definitely feel them and they have woken me up too on occasion. bump goes very hard and tight. def something to mention to mw though if you are unsure.
