Huge age gaps

My son is 17 in a few weeks time. I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with my second baby! To say I am over the moon would be an understatement. I am 34 and had my DS when I was 17 myself. He is my absolute joy.

This darling baby will be raised by me and my current partner. DS's dad and I separated 3 years ago now. ExH and I tried to conceive baby #2 for 13 years with no luck! I then lost 12 stone and here I am, pregnant! 😊

I was wondering how others have found a huge age gap between their children? There's going to be close to 18 years between them. DS will be elated when he is told because he has always told me he wants a sibling.

Thanks in advance.

My children (different dad to my DH) were 15 and 13 when my now 6 week old was born. DD (13) was elated when we told her and had been besotted with baby since she was born. DS (15) was about as excited as you would expect a teenage boy to be. But since the baby has been born he has been great.
Both older children were aware that we wanted to have a baby so it didn’t come as a huge surprise to them when they found out I was pregnant.
To be honest the big age gap has been no problem. The older children were very self sufficient and independent anyway, our biggest problem has been that they aren’t happy with how much room the car seat takes up in the car (we have a big car!) and they are now squashed in the back when we all go out 😂
The baby has been a perfect completion to our family and we have been very lucky with how the big age gap has worked 🥰

Wishing you a smooth pregnancy xx

My eldest is 26 and my youngest 6. The others are 24 and 20. The eldest and youngest are two peas in a pod 😄.
My second eldest and the youngest give each other the full sibling experience by being best buddies one minute, then stirring each other up the next. My 20 yr old is slowly discovering what kids are all about and seems to be a lot more patient now that the 6 yr old is able to play games and follow instructions.

No matter the age gap a family with love works it out :)

There's 12years between my oldest and youngest (21 and 9) and they are so close it's lovely. Eldest is always happy to take youngest out for the day which they both love. It is obviously a very different relationship to children born close, but no less special

There's 14 years between me and my little sister and she's my whole world! Even now she's just turned 12 I love our 'sister days', I'm so thankful to my mom for giving me a baby sibling Smile
