Hello everyone,
I posted a question today but thought I should say hello properly as I am new. I found out that I am 4 weeks pg yesterday and I am so paranoid! After over 3 years of ttc I am terrified that something will go wrong. I am constantly going to the loo and am petrified of miscarrying early on. I have read a lot of scary stuff online and don't know how I am going to get through the next 2 months when I will be in the second trimester. I just want to calm down and not stress out so much.

I'm don't know of a useful thread, but just wanted to reassure you that you're not alone. I always checked for blood each time I went to the loo for the first 3 months or so (wouldn't go to the loo without the light on in case I missed it). I cried so hard when I was at the 12 week scan (out of sheer relief) that the woman doing it told me I had to calm down and that I was making it hard for myself. It has got so much better - I know somethign can still go wrong, but 25 weeks on I'm so happy. I can't think of any useful advice - telling you to relax really won't help, but the fear does fade.
All the best and please be reassured that many of us go through this,
k x

Hello!

Congratulations

Now step away from google, stop scaring yourself, take a deep breath, relax and go join your antenatal thread

fledtoscotland · 04/05/2008 22:08

congratulations and ditto what Indith has said! step away from google and dont read scary pregnancy magazine stories!

relax and enjoy - you are pregnant! also be positive. there are good odds that this pregnancy will be carried to full term and you will have a happy healthy baby. Enjoy this site but remember a lot of people use it when they have problems rather than for general chat.

Hi Mermaid! Congratulations on your pregnancy
When are you due? I would second what indith has said and join an antenatal thread for the month you are due in, because it will be a great place to get to know people who are at the same stage in their pregnancy as you.
Welcome to MN, it is a great site to get support and information .

MaeWest · 04/05/2008 22:12

mermaid - this is 2nd time around for me and if anything I'm more paranoid! Like others have said, I'm just going to have to try to relax about it and time will pass, so so quickly, even if it doesn't seem like it now.

Welcome to MN and congratulatations

MaeWest · 04/05/2008 22:12

that would be congratulations

Kezza7779 · 04/05/2008 23:13

hiya, u could join knicker checkers anon, this is what i did - after 2 yrs of ttc i was the same as u and on the loo every 5 mins checking for blood! im now 25 wks and still do it - silly eh? im still worried that it will never happen, its just natural when u want it so bad.
getting to the 12 week stage took forever, it felt like a year - the odds are with you tho, more pregancies go onto be successful than not, youve just gotta chill and go with it. send positive vibes to your tummy - negativity isnt good for either of you. good luck and congrats on your pregnancy x x x

Hello Mermaid
do not worry!
I am pregnant after my miscarriage and I did have similar worries and no need to make yourself upset about it.
just relax like everbody said and you ll be ok. Now I am enjoying mine and it is a wonderful feeling!

Mermaid- hello and congratulations!
There are lots of really supportive people here, I know there are people on the antenatal thread I'm on who have been through similar experience to you and have found the support invaluable, so you could hunt out your thread.

A good rule of thumb when pregnant- don't google!
