Ectopic pregnancy symptom? Shoulder pain?

I am 5 weeks pregnant and the past few days I have been having a dull pain in the tip of my left shoulder.

a quick google search says it could be sign of ectopic pregnancy? Does anyone have any experience of this and shoulder pain?

I don’t have any other symptoms, I’ve had lower back ache which is what made me take a test as I also had lower back ache early on with my first pregnancy.

I don’t really know what to do as I am only just 5 weeks surely it would be too early to see on a scan?

I have looked on the nhs website and it says to go to a&e if you have a combination of symptoms. I might call 111 to see what they say. Other things that I have looked up says it can be combination of stomach pain, dizziness etc.

Fingers crossed that it's not

It's usually one of the very last signs as means that it's ruptured. For me the abdominal pain came first and it all then escalated very quickly. I only got the shoulder tip pain once I'd already got to hospital. That said, everyone's different and if you should always get checked out if worried.

I didn't have any pain at all with either of my ectopics.

Get it checked if you have concerns.

At 5 weeks a decent operator on a modern ultrasound machine one should be able to see a pregnancy in utero. That probably means a decent-sized NHS EPAU or a higher end private clinic (not least as they can do blood tests that aid in diagnosis). I wouldn't have location checked at any of those windows to the womb type places...

I had a sore tummy and shoulder pain and was in and out of consciousness. I had the tube removed and a full blood transfusion. Go to a&e

Thank you, I am on hold currently with 111 just to get some advice. Don’t worry, I already know not to go to a place like window to the womb after having my son via IVF privately.

Same as this for me. The shoulder tip pain only started once I'd passed out from the abdominal pain and blood loss and then come back round again. It felt like it was bending me in half and definitely wasnt a dull pain. Personally I would keep a close eye but not necessarily rush to a&e (unless the pain is very bad) unless more symptoms join it or it gets worse. If you are able to make an appointment at epu for instance, I'd do that. Be ready to go though in, just in case you need to.move quickly.

What did 111 suggest? Really hope all is okay x

Yes thank you for your message back, I’m sorry to hear you went through that. I have callled 111 and spoken to gp she didn’t seem concerned said just to keep an eye out for it getting worse and any bleeding or abdominal pain

Am I having an ectopic pregnancy?

Hello, so about 2 weeks ago I had one day of blood through discharge. I didn't think much of it as had been intimate with hubby and shrugged it off. Last week I was feeling pretty poorly, nauseous in the mornings etc. Thursday comes and the blood through discharge and brown watery discharge is back. I took a pregnancy test on Friday and it was negative. The brown watery discharged continued over the weekend but I thought my body was just having a moment. Monday I notice blood, not through discharge just blood, but not like a period, it was very light compared to a period and by lunchtime a had a horrific pain very low on my left hand side, so bad that I felt like I couldn't breathe properly when walking. I called the docs who called me in to be seen and he just put my straight onto antibiotics. I'm now on day 3 of antibiotics and the bleeding & brown watery discharge has stopped but the pain low on my left is still there, although not as severe, but I now have really bad pain under my rib on my left hand side. The pain under my ribs has been consistent for about 6 hours now. My plan is to take another pregnancy test in the morning to see if this now shows as positive but I'm quite worried 😟

I should mention I am on the contraceptive injection so chances of falling pregnant are pretty low I think!
