30 week Growth scan fundal height 27cm

Hi all,

I was sent for a growth scan after my midwife appointment as bump was measuring small at 27cm at 30 weeks, I had a previous scan at 25+6 as bump was measuring small at 24 week midwife appointment, after first scan baby was around 40th centile so no concerns went to this scan at 30+2 and baby measuring 80th centile and weighing around 3lb 10oz?!

They said they’ll have to do another scan at 36 weeks and discuss ‘delivery options’ as if baby continues on this growth trajectory I’d be looking at a 97+ centile baby? I was genuinely shocked by this as my bump is measuring 3cm behind yet baby is big?

I am only 5’2, has anyone else had this situation and if so what was the outcome? Just wondering how accurate these scans actually are when it comes to weight, I was really hoping for a natural birth but after she mentioned delivery options I’m now concerned it will have to be a c section early.

Scans can be out by up to 2lbs. I was told all my babies were huge! Only my last was over 9lbs. I had one under 7lbs and one at 8lbs. The 8lbs and 9lbs babies were overdue too.

I am 5ft3 with a short torso so I understand the worry

That’s reassuring to know, it definitely does worry you when you’re only small!
