Hi all - just looking for anyone who has experienced similar.

I had a attempted sweep today at 39+4 (I have gestational diabetes so keen to get baby out) but midwife said while outside of cervix soft and open the inside was closed - so they couldn't do the sweep. Back again Monday to try again.

Keen to hear if anyone else has had this and how long it took labour to properly start from that point.

Have had on and off backache for a few days but no other signs apart from that.

Thanks so much

Hi! I was told the same thing at 40w when they were talking about inducing me due to the baby’s size. I had asked for a sweep to try and avoid induction but it was unsuccessful. I went in for induction at 41w and was already 3cm dilated so they broke my waters and my baby came 6 hours later with no other induction method needed.

Sorry, forgot to say best of luck and hope the baby arrives sharpish!

Oh that's great that you didn't require much intervention! Hoping the same for me - the waiting game is so weird isn't it
