Pushing partner away

Recently I have found out I am expecting a baby with my partner of 7 months. I am worried I am pushing him away and do not want to be around him. I know it is hormones as we were happy and content until I fell pregnant. Has anyone else felt this way and came out at the other side or can anyone give any advice or wise words? Also he wants to move in and I am worrying about this too.

thank you x

I’m not surprised you feel like this OP especially as you’ve only been together 7 months. You don’t yet have that bond and comfort of them being “your person” through good & bad and so I’m not surprised at all that you don’t want to be around them.

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing but it is also very much “the good, the bad and the ugly”, between the body changes, mood changes, the sickness, the exhaustion, aches and pains etc, you really need to be around someone who you know and trust to be a rock solid support and after such a short time you simply don’t have that yet. It’s a really vulnerable time for a woman and I know I personally wouldn’t have been comfortable with my husband seeing all of those different sides of me after 7 months and to add to that after only 7 months we didn’t really know each other well enough for him to know how to support me through those things.

With regards to living together, if you don’t want him to move in then you just need to communicate that with him so he knows. Not to be awful but as you’ve been together for such a short time if I was you I wouldn’t want him to move in with me because once he does it’s not as easy to separate. If you each have separate homes and it doesn’t work out then it’s as easy as “okay, you go home now” and that’s the safety net I’d want if I was in your position.
