Pregnancy

Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

I don't really believe the whole 'if you carry to the front its a gir' or 'if you crave sweet things its a boy' thing, BUT if there seems to be a trend in your family is it more likely to be true??

Because with both my sons I had morning to afternoon sickness, it only eased up after dinner time and started in the morning again. So I would eat really late.

But with this pregnancy although I'm quesy during the day and have little waves of feeling sick I can eat pretty much normally but I am up all night rooling around feeling like Im going to vomit and actully going to the loo to be sick at all times of the night.

I told my gran this and she said thats what her and my mum had, night time sickness... they had 6 GIRLS between them!

Any connection do you think as it runs in our family it seems?

Everyones had boys since and daytime sickness so no comparrisons since then!

Wow thats weird!

My mum had 4 girls, then my aunt had a girl then my uncle had a girl ... so all girls for 17 years,

then when the greatgrand children came along,

I had a boy, then my aunt had a boy, then I had another boy and my sister had a boy ...

Im hoping its not going to be 17 years till I get a girl! lol

All of my siblings and I have had girls first, and all of my mum's siblings as well. The trend is girl, boy, girl boy, but one of my aunts messed it up by having twin boys then two girls in succession!

no pattern to speak of in mine or DHs family

me and my sister had a boy first, then i had a girl. but she has not had anymore (yet!)

mum had twin girls first, my aunt had a girl first, my other had 2 girls, and my other had a boy then 2 girls. so lots of girls and 2 boys.

i carried the same in both pregnancies, shape wise, and craved sweet stuff with DD . sickness started later with DD and was not as bad , with DS it was from week 5 until 34, with dd was from weeek 6 until 22 or so.

See I think this is a girl, but I was sure DS2 was a girl, although I wanted him to be a boy iykwim.

So I think that time I was thinking 'I want a boy but had better prepare myself fora girl kind of thing'

I guess theres no telling fo another 3 months!

i was sure that DD was another DS. as the pregnanies were so similar, until i had my scan. i was actually really surprised when i was told she was a girl.

Yes, my 2 pregnancies were quite different but both boys, but this time its the opposite way round.

No, both mine were small front bumps for ds & dd.

PollyParanoia · 04/05/2008 14:26

On both sides of family, mine and dh, there had never been two in a row of anything for three generations eg all grandparents were boy then girl (then boy if there was a third); my husband has an older and younger sister; I have an older and a younger brother; all four sets of nephews and nieces are pairs of one of each.
Until now... we were on trend with a boy then a girl, now have found out we're having another girl.

fledtoscotland · 04/05/2008 22:12

both of my bumps have been all round the front and very high up and DS is very much a boy and #2 is also a boy (had detailed scan 2wks ago). i havent had any sickness with either pregnancy and the only real difference has been my cravings. with my 1st pregnancy i craved cola flavour anything (cola bottles, diet coke, cola ice lollies etc etc) and hated tea. this time i havent gone off anything but have wanted savoury snacks.

re the whole family thing, DS was the 1st boy to be born in my family for 3 generations but DHs family dont have any girls at all.
