When do flutters become kicks?

Currently 18w5d with an anterior placenta and have been feeling tickles and twitches for the last 2 weeks but no kicks just yet!

Particularly those of you with anterior placentas, when did those flutters become actual kicks?

I think it depends on where the placenta is sitting (if it’s moved up/ down/ side etc). I have a family member who didn’t feel a “kick” her whole pregnancy, just flutters. Where as I am at the end of my second trimester and my husband felt a kick last night, both anterior placentas.

I had an anterior placenta in my first pregnancy and didn't even feel first flutters until 22/23 weeks.
They did get a bit stronger and more regular over time but I never got what I would call proper kicks - there was never anything strong enough to see from the outside or for anyone else to be able to feel for example.
I was in a lot for reduced movements in the third trimester as she would tuck herself away behind the placenta and I wouldn't feel a thing.

Got a posterior placenta this time and it's completely different.

So funny that it can be so different person to person! Aww how sweet. Is this the first time you've felt the kicks this week?

The way they can tuck themselves away freaks me out! I'm an anxious person and it's Sod's Law for me to have an anterior placenta ha!

I know, I wasn’t expecting to feel a thing! The idea of that made me so anxious. At 12 weeks the placenta was bang in-front of baby, but at 20 week scan it had moved to the top so I can feel below my belly button.

With my son I felt flutters at 19 weeks but no gentle kicks until 22/23weeks and even then it was quite subtle. By 24-26 weeks a bit more obvious, with no pattern. Then from 27 weeks I could feel them and had a pattern.

I had an anterior and low lying (over the cervix) placenta. Even ended up in for reduced movements at 30 weeks.

This time I have a posterior placenta and it’s much easier to notice movements. Started as flutter at 17 weeks, and kicks by 18 weeks but gentle still. I’m now 25 weeks and sometimes it’s still gentle or no movements for ages and sometimes obvious.

I've got anterior placenta and felt the fluttered become kicks at week 20. Currently week 28 and there's no denying the kicks and turns. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy 😃

Thank you, all! 🥰 I'm now 19 weeks and funnily enough a day l after I wrote this post I started to feel what I would describe as "thumping" sensations, which can be felt from the outside and my DH felt for the first time yesterday! I feel like when he rolls or shifts I get a strange dropping sensation as though, I'm going over a bump in a car, but otherwise I feel little thumps. 😂 I'm guessing those would now be considered kicks?
