Hello everyone,

I found out yesterday that I am pregnant and I have so many questions, but I will start with this one! Is it safe to drink decaf Earl Grey tea during early pregnancy. After 3 years of trying I don't want to do anything wrong.

I wouldn't have thought it would cause any harm since it is decaf. I drink decaf 'regular' tea - about two cups a day. I find tea quite soothing so I would struggle not to have any at all!

de-caff is fine, too much caffeine is bad for baby but de-caff is ok.

congratulations!

some caffeine is fine. Too much is 'linked' to miscarriage and I found I naturally went off coffee in the first trimester anyway, however a couple of cups of tea will not hurt, especially earl grey as it's low caffeine. Decaff earl grey would have no negative effects at all, as it's decaff.....

agree with most of posts (some tea is fine -I cant remember what limit is but its meant to be no more than 300mg per day)- fwiw there was something on here about not drinking decaff cos of way it is treated but there doesn't seem to be much evidence that decaff does any aharm
