Ctpa and vq scan

Currently 30 weeks pregnant and had been feeling breathless and having heart palpitations so I ended up having to get a vq scan .I was very against getting the scan as when I was ten weeks pregnant in the same pregnancy I had to have a ctpa done on my chest .These scans where both to rule out clots .I'm just worried now my unborn baby will have been exposed to too much radiation as I've had two scans in the one pregnancy ,has anyone else been in the same situation and had to have multiple scans like this ?

the comparison you need to make though isn't radiation vs no radiation, it's radiation vs untreated DVT/PE or the risk of radiation vs several weeks of unnecessary anticoagulation. Better the baby gets a dollop of radiation and you get a diagnosis, than no radiation but you drop dead from a PE or have a huge bleed due to unnecessary treatment. Safest thing for the baby is usually to keep you safe as the main priority.

Thank you for your reply I've been getting leg cramp in my right calf n some discomfort in my thigh so I know why they had to do the vq scan once I said I was also experiencing fast heart rate and breathlessness also .Getting a clear scan has settled my mind but still having these symptoms especially the fast heart rate is scary.thanks again for your reply
