Hi, saw your post earlier about 4d scans. I got a leaflet through from these guys just today and it looked really professional. They even said that if the baby was in the wrong position on the day, that you could go back again for another scan without being charged. I'm not sure how they got my details to post me a leaflet mind you, but I'm sure I've signed up to a lot of things I don't know about due to the combination of freebies and my pregnant brain!

I've booked a 4d scan for 31st May with Babybond in Livingston as I've heard really good things about them. I can't wait!

God luck with your enquiries!

HazieDazieandBaby · 03/05/2008 23:28

Good luck even!

I have heard good things about the Livingston babybond too. I was recomended to go to Healthcare now on Stafford street in Edinburgh and was very impressed. They spent ages showing us everything and got lots of pics and a dvd. All the staff were really friendly, I didnt get a 4d one but picture was really clear. HTH

mumofdjandbabies · 04/05/2008 13:30

It was the detailed anatomy scan that we went for it was £165 with photos and a dvd so not cheap but was really thorough.

A friend of mine got one done but not sure if it was Livingston or Edinburgh. Pictures are amazing though. Good luck.

singyswife · 04/05/2008 21:43

Yeah think my friend said it was about £150 but she got pictures and a dvd, Well worth it though.

meep · 04/05/2008 21:49

I went to Healthcare Now and they were great - I had a nuchal scan then a 20 week anomaly scan - the scan pictures were so clear compared to the nhs ones

We used babybond in Livingston and found them fine - suprisingly small place once you get there!

Just a quick tip, the dvd we got was totally unedited (this is how they come) so had all the fuzzy bits, 2d bits etc which can take away from the impact when you watch back later (it won't be as consistent or clear as it looks when you see them on TV). We had some movie ed software which we ran it through and ended up with around 4mins really good clear footage out of about 13mins. This was much nicer for then showing other people who were interested. Also you can take still frames out using this type of software meaning you can then do own pics from dvd if you were unsure about paying for pics.

singyswife · 04/05/2008 22:02

Okay changing question totally here but are the people who are posting about Livingston, from Livingston??

Ooooh thanks for answering, was getting worried there.

okaythen · 04/05/2008 22:15

No, we were from much further North at the time and travelled down for the day.

singyswife · 04/05/2008 22:16

Ah I see. Is it a good place then or is there just a lack of them???

okaythen · 04/05/2008 22:20

Depends how far north you are, not sure about now but when we went it was just about our nearest.

singyswife · 04/05/2008 22:22

I was just wondering thats all. No need for me to go as cannot have any more dc. Was just being a nosy mare.

umberella · 04/05/2008 22:32

we had our 4d scan at babes in the womb and they were very very keen to get our business, sounded v professional etc, and then the actual experience itself was very poor.

our friends had theirs at babybond and it sounded like a far better experience.

when we went to babes in the womb, they were half an hour late giving us our actual scan so our LO had gone to sleep by the time we actually got in there and they had no drinks/snacks available to wake her up (she had been wriggling like mad all the time we were waiting, when we should have been having our scan) so although it was lovely to see her it was a bit disappointing.

Then we were told they didn't accept payment by card and had to go the the gyle to withdraw cash (bit annoying as rush hour traffic was heavy) and THEN they took absolutely aaaaaaaages to give us the dvd which was basically just an anonymous looking cd in an unmarked box. no branding/name or anything on it. it just felt very slap-dash and like they couldn't be bothered really. The whole experience also took almost 4hrs in the end as they were late seeing us and then extremely late doing the dvd. we wouldn't have minded the wait but they kept saying it would only be 'half an hour', then 'just another half an hour' etc.

mumofdjandbabies · 04/05/2008 23:08

Oh Umbrella how interesting!
I spoke with a chap Darren there in Edinb and he did sound very profess said they did stuff that other places DONT DO like edit up the dvd etc.

Can I ask how long ago you went?

Would you mind emailing me?

krissyandchris @ tiscali.co.uk

Thanks as my hubby has made a provisional booking eek and I want to make sure we book the right place!!

thanks so much for replying!!

mumofdjandbabies · 04/05/2008 23:31

was the dvd better edited than for example your friends at baby bond? as this is what the chap said that its way way better than the others as they edit theirs and add music etc

was the sonographer good?

was the scan as long as they said?

so many questions lol

Hope you dont mind me asking you to email its just this is a sacrificial outlay for us and i so want to get it right!

Babybond will add music, it's just not edited down - they say to bring a cd along with you and they add it in as they scan. sounds like they're not entirely aware of what they're competition do.
