I'm 19 weeks with my 2nd baby and unlike my 1st I have felt very few movements. There were two days of lots of wriggling and then nothing.
I think I feel something but can't be sure it's actually the baby.My d/d didn't stop moving from 15 weeks. The heartbeat has been found easily by the midwife, but it still is on my mind a bit as I have miscarried in the past.

Is this normal? Could it be a boy as I have heard that they tend to move less? ( think this is old wives tale though)!!

Fairly standard in my experience.
18 weeks is around the time to start feeling first movements and maybe earlier with subsequent pregnancies.

My first 2 were around 18 weeks. This one - I felt the first flutterings around 14 weeks but now, just over 19 weeks, I am starting to feel what are more like movements. They are not regular though and tend to happen most when I am lying still (so not very often!!).

Try not to worry at this stage

Snap.......
I'm now at 21 weeks and feeling it every day. I have an anterior placenta (?) which means it's between the baby and my stomach muscles which makes it harder to feel it, doesn't mean it's not moving tho. I was panicking a few weeks ago when the movements started, as they were so intermittent. Very normal! xxx

All perfectly normal. Am 18.5 weeks with my second, and apart from one day of clear somersaulting 2 or 3 weeks ago, I haven't felt anything. Heard heartbeat yest though, so I know it's still in there!

Ceelo · 04/05/2008 08:06

i didn't feel anything until 22 weeks! i'm sure you are fine!!

buttercupbabe · 04/05/2008 10:15

Same here! 18.5 wks now with second and some days lots of flutters ad others none. Got myself in a real state 2 days ago and went to see GP as I hadn't felt anything for 2 days. She found the heartbeat immediately and said that at this stage they are still quiet small and so movement will not always be felt. She also said that it's perfectly normal not to feel many movements until 22 weeks. Hope this helps.

I didn't feel any definite movements beyond 'is it wind?' flutterings until 20 weeks with my first pregnancy. I had an anterior placenta (meaning it was lying between the baby and my tummy, not between the baby and my back) so I didn't felt strong movements until much later on in pregnancy, simply because the placenta was cushioning the kicks.

this is exactly why i love my doppler! best 25 quisd ive ever spent!xxx

tassisssss · 04/05/2008 10:38

i didn't feel definiite movement with any of my 3 until nearer 20 weeks.

have you tried having a deep bath...sometimes i found it easier to feel movement in the bath.

try not to worry...

buttercupbabe · 04/05/2008 10:39

Kezza - which doppler did you get for £25? Not that I've had a proper look but the ones I've seen are really expensive.

ruty · 04/05/2008 10:44

don't think i felt anything till about 20 weeks TBH. 39 weeks now and still paranoid if i think the baby is not moving as much as it was the day before. Try not to worry, just have regular checks and you'll be fine.

www.contecmed.com
It came from the states but its brill i have never not heard the heartbeat and have been using it since 10 weeks. its brill for reassurance. I use cheap hair gel instead of the expensive gel it works a treat.

$49 which is about £25

My DS stopped moving several times during pregnancy in the third trimester. Each time went to hospital worried sick and each time the minute they tried to strap the heart monitor thing round my belly he wouldnt stay still!!! MW told me to go in a bath or eat something cold ice cream, cubes etc as this can make the baby move! It was gd though because I was constantly craving ice cubes but it did work.
